Late 2018 I took a break from assignments and did a couple of projects to focus more on anatomy. I also had to greatly reduce the amount of work I did due to injury.

Winktober 10/2018
I took what I learned about gathering references and figure drawing and applied it to Inktober for 2018. I did a witch theme and added subgenres like horoscopes and natural elements. I used a direct reference for the figure and created outfits based on inspirational images I found for each. It was really fun.

100 Portrait Study 12/2018-10/2019
I started a portrait study challenge that ended up taking about a year, but I got it done! Each was based from an image found from various royalty-free sites. The last 10 were master studies of Gerard Van Honthorst. I wanted to practice a variety of faces and accessories. I used the same basic diagram I learned in term 2.

Towards the end of 2019 I did a couple of ink drawings to start Inktober, but I ended up not finishing and took a break from drawing in 2020.

2021
Here's were I'm at now! I started off with some value studies and started sketching more figures. I also did a hair challenge and painted my first portrait in a while. Here's to a new chapter!

I didn't do the term 1 2-point perspective assignment because I wanted it to be really complicated and detailed. I shouldn't have done that
Here are my refs, wobbly studies and base sketch.

I've been working on the final image for 5 to 6 hours and this is all I have to show for it. If anyone has any tips for adding straight lines in perspective let me know! I need a tool I can use like a ruler so I can just draw the portion I need. I saw something like it in Sketchbook, so I might check it out.

Getting started on term 5!
I took notes a while ago but never got started on the assignments.
I started off with drawing semi-detailed skeletons. I tried to get a variety of animals to study.

I'm trying to work on my presentation so I added some color Hopefully it's not too distracting.

In other news I decided to give Autodesk a try and I'm loving it so far. I'm able to have a ruler on and draw straight lines in perspective wherever I want. The main drawback is that I can't zoom with the ruler tool on, so I have to re-adjust it. Overall it's not a robust as Photoshop, but it's great for drawing perspective assignments!

Your animal skeletons look really cool, Lesley!
Is there a specific reason why you decided to do them „semi-detailed“?
I always did the exercise by using basic forms like Spheres and Boxes, thats why I‘d like to know, if there is a benefit to doing them that way?

Your ink landscapes are amazing! I really like your use of negative space; it creates excellent contrast.

Honestly I like skulls, so I made the dog skull as accurate as I could. Then I realized I didn't have to draw the specific shapes of the bones, but it would've been weird to have an accurate skull and then just lines and boxes I think it's good to study the details at least once just to know all the little bumps and knobs that stick out from the bones. However, for other studies that don't focus on the skeleton I'll be using boxes and spheres too

Muscles
This took waaaay longer than I thought it would.

with the muscles on top, your animals look really cool! Thanks for sharing the reference board as well!
Cant really give a critique as I yet have to study animal anatomy. Maybe one thing that might "upgrade" them a little: the muscles look a little flat to me, maybe try to imply more form in your next study!
Then they might look even better!

I totally agree, thanks for pointing that out! I started doing full figure drawings for these and they're also looking flat, so I'll look into that. Thank you for the comment

Here are my full animal drawings with muscle emphasis! It helped to study the muscles closely first and then go into the drawing. I think I've drawn these two like 6 or 7 times now! For the previous drawings I traced the photo, but for these I applied what I learned from the measured figure drawing video a few terms back. Thanks to @mau.wamp I pushed the lines a little and tried to give the drawing more form.

Here's the progress I went through. I tried to create my own skeleton, add shapes and go over it a couple of times for a more finished look. I feel like I could've stopped on the 3rd step for the dog since he lines on the finial drawing are super thin. What do you think?
