quick wip shot update. I'm in maya building the armor parts as well as the skeleton for the mech. Not sure what parts will show through or not so this is why i'm doing it.

Been busy lately as well as frustrated at modelling this mech. Should've done a concept before hand when I think back, but, in my defense the exploring process in 3d is a little easier than it is in 2d for some things. I don't have to worry about perspective and an other things being right. Its all a learning process all in all. So many things against me. 3D knowledge as in understanding the program as well as Mecha creation skills. 2 Things i'm learning at the same time as well as creating a full body character which I probably shouldn't do. Oh well

Hey Malcom, I really like the recent drawing of the girl. I really can't wait to see the progress on her! By the way, the reason you might be dissatisfied with her face is because of some minor proportion errors. That is, her eyes are in a different perspective than the rest of her face. Should be a quick fix:) Anyway, I really love your progress on these latest pieces, and I can't wait to see the updates!!

Thanks a lot for the feedback. Always appreciate it. I'll get back to the female character soon. I've been doing studies so hopefully I can make the face meet my standard of beauty. For the mech I need to come up with a back view among other things. I didn't know 3D would be this much fun the more I learn about it. Hopefully I can keep things interesting and make it better as I go.

Nice work man enviroments are hard one word of advice think about the landscape this way whatever is closer to you gets darker and whatever goes further back is affected by the atmosphere so it gets lighter aka mixed with the atmospheres color most likley the blue of the sky. also when doing stuff like this give the placement of things variety. for example the top part of the cliff has some varying sized trees bushes ect. hope this helps

Did some male characters concept sketches and a speedpaint

Probably going to do more exploring. Inspired by crysis with the exso suit. Might try something more alien next go around. I know there super rough but feedback always welcomed.(usually never show my sketches this rough but this is how things start)

2 hour speedpaint. Not too happy about it. I do love the colors but everything else is kinda meh

Thanks. You and me both. I hardly if ever do male characters. There not really hard but I need to not be rusty. So doing one here and there isn't so bad.

Anyway heres an update. Had some time to work on the character a bit more. Rough lines and rough color blockout

Looking good Malcom! Designing male characters once in a while is a good exercise x)
Small tip: when doing line-art make sure all of your lines are pulled through, meaning that there are no gaps between lines. If done properly you can just use the paint bucket tool to fill up the gaps, instead of filling in the gaps by using the brush, because I notice some white specks in your design. Just a small thing but it might speed up your process a bit (:
