No problem, that video was super helpful! I'm really enjoying getting this deeper understanding of perspective drawing. Here was my next try after the video:
I think I finally feel ready to start the 1 and 2 point room and street corner assignments now. (In other words, I'm not sure drawing cubes will be able to keep my attention much longer!)

I've been working on my one point perspective... I'm still having issues with some parts but I'm a lot happier with it than when I first started laying it out.

I thought I'd make the cannons all a little different to make it feel a bit more lifelike, but I feel like there might be more wonkyness going on than can be explained by that... any feedback is always appreciated!

I finally finished my 1-point perspective... I ended up spending way more time on it that I meant to. I was having too much fun adding all the details to this. I will try not to make my 2-point so complicated because now I'm getting impatient to move on to the figure drawings!

The amount of time and effort put into this piece is apparent, you did a really fantastic job with this!

Well I lied a little bit, I ended up making my 2-point pretty detailed as well, and I did a small extracurricular concept exercise for it too... I think with these I may have been doing some subconscious procrastinating, technical things have always been my artistic comfort zone and I've always had some fear of drawing people, but it looks like there's finally nothing left for me to do but start the figure drawing!
Great work so far and I definitely understand that sentiment about technical things versus drawing people. I think it's because technical things tend to be uniformed and easy with straight or simple lines. On the other hand, people are far from uniformed and that can be nerve racking at the start!
Thanks and that's definitely true. Also it seems like to me there are almost intangible qualities that make good drawings of people/characters feel alive... so far so many of my attempts have just felt wooden and I just have so much trouble getting that alive feel... this is something I'm hoping to learn!

I'm just getting started with the figure drawing but I figured I'd post what I have so far to see if there are any glaring problems before I keep going. I realized I probably drew too many things over my first round, it turned out a bit messy. I also realized the references I picked may be making it harder... it seems like these exercises are easier to do when the limbs don't overlap:
Yes it' simpler to draw figures without overlapping limbs, maybe it's better to start with simpler poses and then move to complicated ones. You still did a pretty good job! Your analysis of the limbs with the use of cylinders is on point too and they're in the right perspetctive. I think it's a pretty good job overall.
Here's my initial proportions and gesture stuff... well sort of initial, my very first 30 sec gestures were so messy most of them just looked like random scribbles >.< I think I started getting the hang of it after a few pages. working with a 30 second timer was harder than I expected though!
For the start these gestures already look nice and clean. You only used few lines which is also very good 👍
If you feel a bit to overwhelmed tho, just try some 60 sec gestures. Will make it a bit easier ^.^
Thanks! I just thought I'd stick with 30 seconds at first, I guess I'm just the type that always likes to play games in hard mode, even if I keep dying all the time
I'm not sure there's an art equivalent to dying all the time in video games lol, but I am enjoying it and I feel like I'm learning a lot, even if it is a bit stressful.
