Sorry if I have posted on the wrong board but it is a WIP at the end of the day and I just wondered if any of you could provide me with advice as well as criticism.

I'm doing a study from a photo reference: and I'm not sure how to go about doing the occlusion shadow on the darkest face of the cube. Also I am right in that the vertices and edges of the cube are a bit sharp in my painting? Not sure how to sort that out without losing the subtlety of the original cube. Also am I right in seeing that there is reflected light on the darkest face of the cube?

In short what can I do to make my painting look more like the reference?

Sorry for the questions and please point where I'm going wrong.

REFERENCE

MY PAINTING

Hey there! Not sure if I can help you much, but I will try
Even though, on first sight, each side looks like its just one color, actually each side has some kind of shade, if you put color picker on original, you will see that top of cube on left is lighter than right side (there`s kind of shade on right side)... its the same for other 2 sides of cube...and I believe you were right about reflection on darkest one... hopefully I helped a bit

Hey there, narsenijevic! That's really insightful I hadn't noticed that each face has some kind of shade! Thanks for taking the time to look and your input.

Hopefully this looks a bit better.
