I like the painting it's really good as well as the portrait.

Behold a lore dump!

Them and other gods lived in pantheon away from mortals. They couldn't interfere in their lives. Even descend to mortal realms was forbidden by the Old Gods. It was possible at the beginning but that's story for another time. They could only observe from afar. Sun couldn't understand why. They are gods so they should live among mortals to guide and help them. Devah decided to leave pantheon and changed everything. Some gods followed him others were afraid of breaking rules or just didn't care. Narfi begged him to stay, mortals and gods shouldn't live together as it would bring chaos hurting both sides. Devah wanted changes for her, to bring her happiness, he hoped she would join him in mortal realms later. Narfi was heavily influenced by Old Gods, they manipulated her and after Devah left something broke in her. She descended into madness and wants blood

In short Devah wanted to change order of things in gods pantheon. Narfi isn't happy about it. Devah leaves, Narfi mind breaks and she wants to kill him

Need to rework some parts. Initially Devah was a bad guy but look at him. This cute boi just wants to make people happier

Interesting setup, so it's a type of conflict between wanting change vs keeping traditions? If Narfi was manipulated or influenced by the old gods, it kinda sounds like she's a victim as well.

Do you have in mind how the conflict will result in the end? I feel like a final state or goal is pretty important during writing. While it's definelty usually more about the journey and execution, the goal is what usually drives motives and events.

Either way, I'd be interested in hearing more. Sharing tidbits in bits like these are also easier to digest.

I did a lot of changes to the whole story so I need to figure out some stuff. Idea of the old gods is pretty recent. It seemed to fit and there has to be some reason for gods not to interact with people. I have an idea for final but it needs reworking after changes and idea of old gods adds a new layer to everything

I never wanted Narfi to be a villain she was always a victim. She makes poor decisions due to state she is in. Her mental state is a big part of that story

It is also a setup for other stories and I want to use it as an old tale in comics

I will keep sharing some bits from this. I'm thinking about other gods

but my mind is currently on a different story. You don't know about it yet. I need to think it through before sharing anything

As I feel better mentally I need to get that massive headache... but we are ready to get back to drawing!

Studieeees there are times when it is super fun to do and it goes smoothly

Started working on merman. Why I always must go for weird perspective and weird head angles... I spent a lot of time resizing, rearranging redrawing anatomy mostly head. It seems fine on sketch but as I render it feels awkward. It starts to look nice but still there is something weird about it. Serratus anterior needs work, I hate this muscle so much, seems easy to sketch but doing anything more with it... its so confusing... at least I remember its name.

I use Huang Guangjian work as reference. I added color variation on skin and it starts to look pretty. Still muddy in some places but pretty.

Yo that's looking good! I take it it's still a work in progress, but are you planning on readding those orange/green tones? they look really nice on that second pic!

Thank you! Yes I am going back to those colors. I considered using only blues and purples but it lacks the warmth and orange looks so nice

I am trying to make waaaaay too many things at once but I can't wait to see it too

On thumbnails I had more evil vibe going on so it probably transfered

I love it when art is arting. Even though the process looks like oh its gonna be cool - i hate it - it looks nice- what a garbage, time to rethink my life choices and so on. I didn't expect to finish it so soon but I was in the mood and it just happened.

Boat is faar away. It just didn't work. Perspective grids, 3d models no just no. Same goes for serratus anterior i added a hint but that's all he is getting.

I am starting to feel more confident with detailed backgrounds. I like my enviro studies but I struggle to translate it into my own works. I wasn't sure about plants but I think these look nice.

There was a point when I wasn't satisfied where it was going (first pic) so lets merge all the layers (remembered to copy it this time) and see what magic I can do. Gaussian blur, blending modes, readding details repeat. I don't know how many times I blured it but I love the soft dreamy feel.

I can say that I like this one (will see about it in few days) and I am satisfied with it. Will try to ignore mistakes this time

It looks great!! the colors and the composition is really good, and the rimlights/bouncelights and all the little light details really make it shine.

I guess the only part that gets lost a bit is the tail, in that last oneit seems like his lower body cuts off, hard to tell that the part on the right is an extension of the tail.

Really amazing work though, it's easy to tell you had fun doing it.

And experimental self-portrait I don't do these often. I think eye is a bit off but I was more focused on the mood. I wanted to do something manga inspired but it turned into this. it was fun to do I might do more experiments like this. Tried putting some colors on it and blue glow looks pretty nice but I lost some details with adjustments

It's a nice improvement! Funny how those details call the attention of the eye much faster, tail is definitely more noticeable now.

Very nice potrait too! I think I've learned a lot by experimenting around with styles too. They usually don't stick, but it gives you great insight and end up learning quite a bit.

You look fairly upset though xD I feel like I should hide under a blanket.

I have a comic update for you! Just these two so I don't flood you

Eve was assaulted by a vampire and her father kept her locked at house since then. She can cast powerful spells but slowly so she asked her friends to teach her how to fight. She summons rapier that can turn into staff. Eve doesn't show emotions and is pretty stoic most of time

She started wearing short skirt/shorts to be more mobile. She also cut her hair. Since she is a wizard she has this huge witch hat that also protects her from sun. I am thinking about glasses to hide her red eyes well I keep drawing her with them so I think it stays

I just noticed her eyes are misaligned...

And Rai
His mother comes from a noble house and his father is barbarian warchief. Rai was weak as a child so his father casted him away. Returned to 'human' kingdom (need a name for this) with his mom where he meets Eve and 3rd guy.

He has barbarian abilities after his father. He can enhance his strenght and speed and does lighting thing. He is a rogue and steals everything shiny. He has a 'troublemaker' vibe going on but he has a heart of gold and is the softest from the group

My biggest problem about comic is that I see it as a very distant thing. So distant that I struggle to get myself to work on it. And I could pour everything into it making it closer but my stupid overthinking brain stops me... Stop thinking and get back to work
