I was like you look so familiar XD then im like oh u (based on that self portrait) look a lot like Hange from AOT esp with dem glasses XD
Eve and Rai look so cool! I can't wait to learn more about them!
I have lots of thoughts on this so apologies for the long post
I too see it as a distant thing for my comic but i have a huge build up plan in place for how to get from here to where i want to be.
for me (and idk if this well help you at all but this is just my process to break it down):
1 - Worldbuilding / Plotbuilding / Worldbuilding
Been doing this for like 6-7 years now - at first casually - then regularly. I always imagine the scenes with the most feelz and that is my motivator. I want people to feel the feelz I feel when I get to that point in the story. but for that to happen there needs to be build up
I have 5 mcs, 100+ side characters across 2 main worlds (1 world has several smaller worlds in there too so there are lots of different species of characters that I'd have to worldbuild too)
2 - Trailers - I've decided for several years - probs from the time i started coming up with the ideas or shortly thereafter - that I wanted to have 6 fully animated trailers with my own music. I have the trailer scripts written out but havent started animating the cuts yet - mostly cuz of perfectionism but also because Im still plotbuilding and might wanna take out and remove stuff from my orig planned trailer... BUT what I really SHOULD do is animate the cuts as is... then if i have another idea, animate that and to NOT be afraid to put aside/take out cuts that i no longer need.. my main issue is that im lazy lol i dont wanna have to redo things. but for my project I know i need to get over this piece XD
That leads to music making - am learning and practicing that as well as sound design.
3 - Artbook
I want to make a grand worldbuilding and character related artbook about my world and main groups and factions. It'll probs be like several hundred pages long.. at least 100 pages..
Thats gonna take lots of work. several years probably.
trailers alone will probs take like........... 6 years if i do a trailer a year. Art book depending on how efficient i am idk will take a few yrs to
Thus I conclude that it'll probs be at least 10 years until i can publish the first chapter of my webcomic online.
I also wanna be able to print both the comic and the artbook - if not for sale - then at least for myself. Here comes the overthinking again... what specs?! i spent so long looking up specs and have a csp file tailored properly. im just afraid to work on the csp for fear of messing it up XDDD #perfectionismstrikesagain
Like im thinking what if i have to resize it later then it might lose quality and i'd have to draw it again.. what if I dont like how it looks and i'd have to draw it again? what if i end up changing the design? then i'd have to draw it again.. I know that I should just do it and if i end up redoing it i redo it but yea thats literally my main blocker rn XD I'm trying tho.
4 - Website:
- coded my own website but want to recode it and do a revamp. thats more of a nice to have and can come after the comic is published but since im learnig coding i might as well. its the closest thing i have to a product rly atm... both the comic and artbook as well as the trailers are so far away XD
I have annual goals planned out to like 2036 - which if i follow my plan preciesly would mean i can start publishing the first chapter around then.
I work full time and dont anticipate that changing anytime soon no matter how much i want to just work on my proj all day every day.
so i'd take like a year to do backlog so my comic updates can be consistent.
If you want i can show up what my yearly planning looks like.. but this post is already as long as it is XD I feel bad taking up so much space on your forum XD
The important thing tho is why is this important for you? thinking about that will help spark your drive. For me, I thought well I could shorten my story and ideas and condense it and publish earlier or make my scope smaller.. But I don't want to. I'd rather die not publishing something than publishing something half baked that's just how I roll.. So I think to get over your overthinking, it'd help to find your resolve, then make a yearly rough plan towards that goal, write down everything you think should happen between now and then. Check them off the list as you work on it. and imo that helped me
Good luck!
