Been busy with the moving out thing. Still lots to do and getting used to new place

I want to say that I feel good but I don't. At least I am a bit better and it's not that bad. Just a matter of time

If you have a lot on your mind, It helps to write them down. It helps to figure out the problem when it's right in front of you instead of in your head.

Cus...Pride and Win

I like it. Cal is full of pride. I can see it used as others mocking him about it

Pridwen has been interpreted as meaning "white face", "fair face", "blessed form" or "precious and white". I didn't really look at the meaning of it before and it really fits my boi

Managed to make a portrait. Some stuff might be off I used refs only for hair and clothes idea. I just wanted to go with the flow and don't think too much about it. I tried working only with one brush. Soft round brush + hard one for some small details.

It's Eve, vampire wizard. I am thinking of giving her white/crystal rose theme. It would fit her

Eve is really beautiful! your studies on Ayami's work and focus on more definition seem to be working out. I really like how you hint at the silhouette with shadows and brushwork and only use very few lines to clarify the form.
She reminds me a bit of Sypha from the Catlevania anime.

best friends. Both are from important noble houses so they spent a lot of time together. They are basically siblings. They have each other back but will fight over the most stupid thing

I was sketching and doodling then I started painting and well this happened
Tried gradient maps and played with other fancy things. Just having fun
It reminded me of some band posters so rock band au Cal it is. Even changed little dot under eye into star. Signature took more time than I would like to admit...
Not me already creating a story in this theme for them. They would look so good

Potraits look good!
Gradient maps have been a bit of hit and miss for me lately, but they have their place. I like how you can switch and play with colors, but it becomes hard to apply proper terminators or blend colors.

I like some transitions between colors that I wouldn't normally get. Still you need to add a lot to it, fixing what was lost, and refining.

I changed my approach. I will try to take it easy and have fun. Not worry too much about stuff being 100% correct. I've been caught up in this circle of doing tons of studies and pushing artworks. when I don't draw I feel bad because I am wasting time. I will work on a piece for 6 hours straight and afterwards I feel bad because I do nothing. I am crazy, you know you can rest. Doing nothing is fine you need time to recharge

Another portrait. It so fun to work with this colors. Tried slightly different style and look he is smiling! I am not confident with expressions but I think this one looks pretty nice. Used gradient maps for this as well

This guy is Rai. Rogue with electricity powers friend of Cal and Eve. He joined the group later but he quickly bonded with them. Cal and Rai are competent and skilled on their own but together they share one braincell.

Yo! Nice work! And yea, getting proper balance can be hard, especially when you have the rest of life stuff to balance in as well. Glad to hear you are moving to a more "enjoy" approach.

Cal and Rai seem like they'll be fun to follow through. The purple/blue background gives it almost like a space/night theme on the back. I like how you change the signatures to fit in with the characters, nice little detail. Also love how you are giving character more and more expressions. Even if Cal and Eve have a more serious look to them, Eve has a mro soft/kind look while Cal had a more serious/stoic look to him, the subtle nuances in the eyebrows and lips.

If you go back into your insta and look at past pieces, most have a serious/slight smile face to them (even your potrait has a serious/slight smile), I think this might be the first character/drawing I see with a smug.

it is first drawing where such expression made it past sketch phase. I always back off and tone it down because it feels weird. it's probably just in my head. I think I will get over it with Rai. he is so fun to draw

Genesis is done
I tried putting gradient maps on value sketch and I got this nice underpainting. I am always stuck after value sketch because I don't know hot to apply colors to it. Either I loose value or colors look muddy. In this case gradient maps were helpful i got a nice tone for the whole thing and it was easy to go into colors but it may not work for everything

I was going for dark mood but for some reason I got this lovely glowy thing. I am not complaining I like it. Been staring too much at shoujo art lately.

I did copied layers so I could go back and make what I initally wanted. I finished the darker version today so I will leave it for a while. Maybe need to redo apple it looks a bit lost

Not satisfied with fire and wing is very very wrong but I didn't want to draw feathers other than that I really like both versions and it was fun to do

Need to study smoke and flames

I know you have mentioned Genesis before, but I must have missed who he is? Having a wing seems pretty unusual, reminds me of Sephiroth as a one winged angel. I can definetly see the Shoujo influence in your work, which usually has "prettier characters" vs shonen, where characters are usually more exagerated and cartoony.

His head loooks a bit strange though, like its not quite as round. Not sure what it is though, I think it just has to do with the top part, like it goes a bit higher than it should.

Your art has really improved considerably in general.

Nice work on the painting. The glowing smoke from the blue apple is a nice touch.

I am always stuck after the value sketch because I don't know how to apply colors to it. Either I lose value or the colors look muddy.

For me, when that happens, I go into the gradients and adjust the colors until the look right.
