You don't need skill or following to make commissions. I've seen people from all skill levels doing them. I will be sharing tips with you when I find out what is what. I know how hard it is
Someone told me I need to know my worth. And don't lower prices when someone ask me to. My prices are just copied from other artists around my skill and style. And I tried to make it around $10 per hour but i keep it lower. It feels too much for me. I don't know if they are good as I haven't sold anything yet.

You seem to be interested in Laine's mother... I didn't think too much about it. And there won't be any closer looks at it anytime soon
I need to elaborate on 'Taint' first. Will give more details once I get to designing it
It is Damned one (he is a lesser god) sorrow. Basically corrupted power devouring everything and turning living into monsters. When someone tastes it they become addicted and crave more. After a while they don't see difference between sorrow source and people. They attack everyone and suck their living essence. Vampiric creatures in a way.
Layne was attacked by such creature but priests managed to stop the taint from spreading. The taint is still there so if he was attacked again they wouldn't be able save him. First idea was that his mother left to capital with him but I like torturing my characters. Abandonment trauma would work for Layne nicely. I thought about elves not being able to leave the forest because of their post-Blight law but I don't like it. So maybe his mother hid that she was tainted too. She wouldn't be able to protect him so she send him to a place without tainted creatures. Maybe she was with him on the way to kingdom but started changing and she disappeared one night
I will have time to think about it. And still need to work on the whole Taint thing
And Cal as Tainted angel is done (he is tainted too but only for this scenario... or maybe)
I reached the point when I don't change anything and just keep staring so I shouid take a break.
I tried making enviro background. I struggle a lot with it because I don't know how to make characters interact with surroundings and I am not sure how to stylise it. I had to redo this one a lot. I think it is fine. I have a feeling that there is something missing but it might be just me overthinking...
I wanted to make it in simple monologous palette. Maybe will use it for something else. I will have to challenge myself to work with limited colors. I also had his arm changing into a monster one but I just left it.
And writing practice. Bit of story for this painting Maybe will change some parts. I didn't want to make it too long but some parts could be more detailed
The feeling of guilt never leaves Cal’s side. He still remembers the moment when he failed his loved ones. Mistake that could take their lives if it wasn’t for a stranger’s help. Cal kept coming back to this memory. Nurturing guilt and fear. ‘You are a failure’ his father’s voice echoing in his head, ‘you will never be like him’.
When the opportunity to redeem himself appeared, Cal didn’t have to think twice. It didn’t matter whether he would survive or not. The only thing that mattered was cleansing his conscience. Cal decided to fight the beast on his own to avoid putting anyone in danger again. He jumped in front of the monster delivering a series of quick slashes. Strike. Dodge. Strike. Soon the beast fell. A brief sense of victory was clouded by Cal hitting ground next to his enemy. He didn’t notice when the monster sank his fangs in. It wasn’t a normal creature. It was a tainted creature. Cal could feel corruption spreading in his veins. It is only a matter of time till he turns into a mindless monster. There is only one way to avoid this fate. He needs to take his own life.
I have one new character to share but will do it in separate post. There is so much story stuff here he would get lost
