Here i am once again, the last two weeks have been quite rough, i feel like the exercises of the companion guide weren't enough to captivate me, or perhaps was just my attention span that sucks.
Long story short, i done almost nothing, again . But i will take this opportunity to review and do some notes on what i've done in this term and compare with the stuff i did on the end of last year.
Overall, i feel like i've come a long way, mostly on the gesture and the character studies department, but is crazy to think that the more i know, the more i realize i don't know jackshit lol.
Gesture stuff
This is one my first attempts at gesture drawing, didn't had a tablet at the time and i use to draw very softly so it's barely visible, don't know the exact date, but probably done this early to mid 2020, and if i had to guess i must have spent more than 20 min on each.
This is the first one i posted here in the forums, i already had bought a display tablet when i done these.
And here is the ones i did this week (2 min each)
When it come to gesture i feel a bit odd, on one side i do not like them, sometimes i simply cannot do them, they all come out wonky looking. On the other side looking back at the previous ones i've done, i'm getting better at it, and i do realize that the insecurity i feel towards them it's something almost everybody feel. So yeah, fun times.
Proportions and Figure Drawing
This is the first proportion exercise and figure drawing i did back in december.
And these are some of the ones i did this time around
Not much to say about it, but it looks like improvement to my eyes, so yeah, good stuff me.
Studies (Copies from other artists)
i found this copies i've done a loooong time ago, i mean they are not bad, but the proportions are all over the place, it's actually fun to look at them and realize this mistakes.
In contrast to it, i absolutely loved this one i did in week 3. I do realize the lines are quite rough, yet i feel like it's part of it's charm to me.
Studies (Enviroments copies)
On week 6 i did this environment study, i've never done anything like that and it came out great, but i feel like i set i really high bar for myself, one that just led to frustration and me overthinking things, as usual.
On week 8 i was supposed to do 3 more studies, but didn't manage to finish not even one, here is the result.
I will just take the L and move on, perhaps on later terms i will be more knowledgeable and be able to do my own environments. I hope .
Perspective Stuff
On the flip side these felt great to do, this is my room i've done in december last year, the sizes of things are just wrong and one thing i remember when i was doing this, it was hard as hell.
And this is the one i did on week 6, same room seen from the other side, also moved the furniture around since then, it was waaaay easier to do btw
And this is the assignment 4 i did back in december, i remember being so proud of it, but looking at it now i feel a bit meh,
I leaned too much on the ruler of photoshop to do the lines and, to my eyes, it could be a lot better.
And the one i did this time around, no rulers involved (That's probably why it is a bit bend )
And i think that's about it for term 1, i really lost myself towards the end of it, but here's for a new term to come. If you read all of this rambling you must be nuts. Thanks for passing by.
