Also thank you @mitsuki-youko for suggesting the bracelets and ankle bracelets! That gave me an idea to think about how this demon would learn about Earth via jewelry that another demon, who got them from Earth, gave to her. That idea got me thinking about her desire to go to Earth for my story (which is very much a WIP at the moment. I work on it on-and-off when I get the chance).

It's been a while since I have last posted. I've been very busy with work, watching the art videos, gathering reference materials, etc. Though, I personally find that being away from my art for long periods of time allows me to catch my mistakes faster.
I did this piece for the composition assignment by focusing on the element, "emphasis," by focusing on the hole. Though, I guess I can add proportion to the list with that pedestrian there. It took me a while to get the colors to what I imagined them to be. So far, I got it pretty close to what I imagined in my head.
Environmental art is not my wheelhouse. I'm definitely a lot comfier with character art. But it was nice to get away from it to improve my environmental painting skills and process. I hope to apply what I learn about coloring from this assignment to character art.

Still trying to find time to draw lol. I want to work on another illustration, but I needed to do some style tests and edit some elements of my character. The middle is just straight up line art as a base. The left is more of a manga-style, since I like that style. The one on the right is cel-shaded in terms of a possible coloring approach.

Ooof, it has been too long since I posted. I'm still struggling to make time for art. I did a composition based on balance, I tried to do something simple, yet I still had to research how to draw moths and look at how how other colorists color comic book art. I guess it really wasn't that simple, looking back on it lol

I drew my character's face. I wanted to capture her personality more by changing some of the shapes on her face. I've watched Marc's recent video, and I'm taking his advice of setting smaller goals. I think I get super anxious whenever I think about making manga and making it as soon as possible to the point where my mind goes all over the place. So doing the face, which is within my comfort zone, was quite relieving for me, and it also made me practice making stronger decisions when it comes to line art.

I didn't want to go on a long silence on the forums like last time, so here's a work-in-progress that I am going to use for some cel-shading practice. The blue lines are just shadow reference placements.

the lower wings are merging behind the upper wings? or is there supposed to be some space between them? i feel like the lower wings should be lower but that could b just me lol

Here is the colorized drawing. The cel-shading video that @mitsuki-youko shared is really helpful! I really enjoyed learning the other tools and tricks on Clip Studio to make my cel-shading pop out more.
