Mech Malory, or just Malory for short. I created this character and entered her into last year's Artwar, in both the 3D and 2D categories, however only completed the 2D category. Now I am finishing her 3D character model. I started with block out in Maya, and now most of it will be completed in Zbrush. The hard surface bits are nearly completed.

Love to get some feedback! Debating on the level of micro details I will do in high poly since I will texture in Painter, where much of them will be finalized. Also adding more details compared to my 2D concept.

2d and 3d looks really good so far, the hard surface stuff is excellent, especially on the shoes (I should get around doing some hard-surface in zbrush...) and that harness-thing is also sweet-looking.

However, I do have some design related feedback, and that is on the strips of padding going all over her body. I get that this seems to be kinda the theme of the design, that they aren't very solid and are more loose, but I think it really distracts from an otherwise good design. I think it would look way better if you made them smoother, like if they were maybe from a harder material, like some kind of thick protection padding covered tightly with kevlar or whatever. Especially on the butt and core, they are really wrinkly, maybe if you tone it down to the same level as the legs that'd be enough? And maybe, try and angle some areas of these strips so they mimick the muscles underneath. Like the ones wrapped around her core could follow the direction of her obliques, and the ones on her but could go in the same direction as the glutes. Just a thought.

Also, I'm not generally a fan of very large breasts with vacuum-fitted clothing on top, since almost no women have those kinda proportions in the real world and the few ones that do wouldn't ever feel comfortable in such apparel (imagine the chafing, ouch). I think modest breast-sizes generally does a better job at projecting feminimity without being too in your face about it, and in this kinda otherwise utilitarian design I'd do the clothes as if she wore a sportsbra underneath, since that would make a bit more sense (and also look better I think). But that's just me.

Anyway, don't feel discouraged by my lengthy feedback above though, and just ignore it if you don't agree :+1: It's a really solid design and you're doing great progress, keep it up!

First of all, thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you like how it is coming along! I appreciate the feedback, I am considering it. The padding being too soft looking, I do see your point, it would make more sense if it was a bit more rugged.

The breasts and her wearing a sports bra is another good point, and in her initial concept I had considered this. She is a busty character, so I chose to encase the breasts with the design of the suit. Still, I might tone down the breast slightly. I have another character which I am doing after her related to the same story and idea, and she has small breasts.

At any rate I will consider everything you've said and appreciate you taking the time to comment and leave feedback!

Here are some updates on her, pushing the realism bar, which is adding to the time on this!

Final High Poly Sculpt.

Doing retopology in 3Dcoat right now. Here is dirty wip of it, still lot of cleaning to do on it. Going to shoot for 5k on the head piece, and about 100k on the whole model. With 80K on the figure leaving another 20K for hair cards. Still new to hair cards but I've been studying.

Finished retopology on the head piece. I think I will do the rest all together instead of like this.

Also my poly count is 4726k my budget was 5k, always nice to go under budget!

There is an issue with 3D Coat when you zoom in, you can fix it with 'Z-Bias' slider at top in retopo room. Not perfect though, so I have to scale up my models before I start retopo.

I have been seriously considering getting topogun do to this issue, it can be really annoying.

this is really a very detaild model , amazing !!!

wow this is so amazing
what do you use for the textures

@alf0 Thanks dude!

I use Substance Painter for the texturing, and sometimes make modifications in Photoshop!

And my UV. Decided to make both sides unique, though maybe I shouldn't have?

Honestly still planning my texture sets on the whole piece. Also my initial bakes!

i am really far from this !!! amazing work
