Finished watching the Visual Communications video and went onto doing the assignment, in order to actually get the gains with improvement. I decided to do Observation studies, 30 minutes of life, 30 minutes of an artist's work, and then 15 to 30 minutes of drawing from imagination.

I recommend watching Manga Materials video on studying, while input is important, so is output, so make sure you not only take in that information but practice and apply it was well.

I've given myself a deadline of 28 days on this assignment, so 3 days down,

Day 4, 5 and 6. So I'm moving onto the next thing which is Photoshop Introduction which I've been told I will blaze right on through so can't wait.

So I did the first part of the Photoshop for Digital Production but it seems like most of the assignments are undoable with Clip Studio sadly, so I guess I'll move onto Gesture Drawing/ Nude Figure.

HUGEEE Homework dump, been getting alot of helpful feedback on term 1 homework and where i need to push forward into. Also on here as well, please if you can critique give me insight on whether i should move on or continue on nude figure drawing. (even though i need to practice proportions.)

Very nice progress! If I was in your position I would give it a try, have you got a good feel for the proportion exercise? For me there was a big jump in difficulty from cylinders to proportions and another big jump from proportions to measuring. So if you haven't done the proportion exercises start with those and then once that feels easy move to the measuring exercise. That's what I would do. If you feel like you are struggling to much take a step back and focus more on previous content. Great work!

Practice/Assignments...So I've come to a big rut in my feelings of my art journey, I'm in my late thirties and its eating me inside cause of expectation of my future. So I decided to give myself an assignment/ project in order to practice something that i can do in a project.

First though I did Mina the Hollower fanart with Mina as a human.

I decided to make the project/assignment to improve my skills in be "Draw 500 Mannequin Figures." the reason for this project is to: 1. improve in figure construction, 2. improve in understanding how to draw figures in perspective.
I feel like this will help me overall with drawing figures.
So here are the first 20.

Hopefully this works out, cause I wrote a list of projects that build on one another, allowing me to work on a fundamental.

Currently undergoing the structure of Marc's Character Artist Video, since that is mainly what I want to do.
Marc's Character Artist Starter Pack

So my plans for the future is to do 28 day focus of:
1. Gesture
2. Construction
3. Perspective
4. Heads
5. Torsos
6. Arms
7. Hands
8. Legs
9. Feet
10. Clothing
11. Design
12. Color Theory.

I felt that I needed a big focus, I will look through the classes related to the topic. and I will still be doing teh 500 figure mannequins until number 500.

So for Gesture Drawing/Construction/Anatomy, I plan on doing what Marc gave as exercises in his How to Practice Drawing Anatomy Video.
So for Gesture Practice, I will be doing level 2 focus with 1 min, 2 min, and 5 min pose session maybe for 1-2 hours?

For Construction, I will be doing level 1, level 3, and level 4 focus. Drawing simple shapes over photos. Drawing and Constructing characters from reference poses. and drawing and construction figures with muscles.

Trying to build a habit of drawing everyday, on day 3. 21 days to build a habit I have 17 days left, wish me luck. I'm really trying to improve.

Freaking loving this. Don't feel alone I am in my late 30's also and I'm in it to win it. You are killing it. Keep rocking this I see a ton of improvement already. Psylocke Sketch

Studies done in the morning as well as during projects.
I've learned from Marc's new video on practice on a way to practice and improvement my fundamentals. So i usually start my day with a quick warm up for 5 minutes.
then do a study of a photo from life or artist's work for 30 minutes, then i study a fundamental related to something in the study for 30 minutes, and then i draw from imagination using what i just learned.

Thank you, I'm kind of going off the pathway of the curriculum but still going through certain things that deal with fundamentals pertaining to characters mostly.

So what have I learned these past few days.
1. when learning a fundamental, stay focused on whatever book/course you are doing until you finish/complete it. I've been jumping from resource to resource and I feel that's what's been messing me up. I need to stay focused.
So for right now I've been working only with Figure Drawing For All It's Worth.

I'll probably come back to Art School in the future, but personally I want to get through all the things that I've bought in the past ya know.

The Loomis book is good, I feel it's hard to beat Marc's approach though! It's so structured and trims a lot of the fat. I find Loomis is a great supplement to his material when the courses don't have all the answers. I hope to keep seeing your posts! Keep it up!
