Sketchbook pics
and some more doodles, extruding cylinders
Still at work today but managed to pump out a couple of iterations on figure proportions during lunch, not sure if they are fully there yet, especially female. I struggle with female shoulders, waist placement and angle, size of legs arms and head vs torso X_X basically everything ๐
Managed to do some extra studiesNow I'm going to finish the videos on nude figure and start the perspective one
cheers
Snakker here, still just drawing from imagination. I have a good notion of anatomy because of my line of work, but not much of drawing it so I keep iterating and iterating trying to make it look good and look correct, though at this point I should probably get back to the term 1 classes I havenโt finished and doing the other assignments
Even though, I do feel Iโm getting a little better but probably with a ton of errors. Trying to find a way to make the 2d figure proportion chart my own to get it into my head but have a lot of trouble drawing female figure well. I feel also that drawing the outlines of muscles makes females look too muscular and the drawing not aesthetically pleasing
I guess it shouldnโt matter at this point, but canโt help trying to get it right. Also made some hacks to make the legs look a little better and tried drawing the figure in 3d to get a better feel of the shapes in my head
If anyone has any words of wisdom let me know
Cheers.
I haven't started with Anatomy just yet, but I miiight have something that could help you with muscles on female bodies without making them super masculine, and that's Line Weight and Line suggestion, Marc has some pretty good videos on everything Line art related, one I'd recommend is this. And it's also timestamped to the point I'm talking about, I think if you use Line suggestion for female muscle definition then it won't look AS masculine. And line suggestion comes towards the end of the video at roughly 7:25
Oh man, thanks for the comments and video this is exactly what I need to see/hear. Itโs definitely going to be a struggle but totally worth it
Your dedication is impressive Snakker! Keep up the good work! Your anatomy recall is strong but don't neglect drawing from reference that is where you get the experience points. Drawing from imagination is like the test, where drawing from reference is the study. Great work Snakker love to see the progress!
Thanks for the kind words, you are right, today I'm starting from reference and gesture to try my hand at both measured drawing and feeling some forces and rythms.
For now I've been reading a bit, observing a bit and doodling a lot more XD
Here's today's attempt at remembering proportions, I know, still memory but I feel I'm getting more of a hang of it. Also hitting that stylus with much more finesse nice and gently to play with the line weight
Here's one from the reference with measuring assignment
I love how detailed your anatomy drawings are. The proportions in that last one look just about spot on!
@matthewwemes thanks for the kind remarks
For now uploading the next exercise for the one month of art thing (cube with extrusions and cutouts), I decided to go for something more real this time, so I made a house in the desert and tried rendering it as best as I could
Another proportion guy from imagination to keep practicing and a study on anatomy of the face from profile based on Patrick Jones (artist)
"House in the Desert"
And a sketch based on what I learned from that study. I tried giving it a sci fi vibe
Couple of more reference studies
Hard to get any facial features
Uhh I See you studied a lot since the last time I saw your blog ๐I really like the shading and proportions of this ^.^
Hey there, yeah Iโm definitely trying to hit that art gym whenever I can ๐
Heres a little study from today
Cheers
Oh that last one got flipped 90 degrees for some reason, she's supposed to be with her head toward the floor
Anyways, another go at the cube with extrusions exercise from the one month thing and a work in progress of the coffee mug, I kind of tried pushing myself with that one to play around with colors and try to match a picture, any tips suggestions or critique are welcome
Daym Snakker, All these studies are freaking amazing!, and that is a great attempt at coloring!. I also agree with what Lockenheim said about using references for studies, and from Imagination as a test, Only way to get input of anything is with references, and you're clearly really good at going off of references, great work!.
@CYP2C19 Thanks for the kind remarks I'm gonna keep at it, definitely gotta do more reference studies of the figure
here's a couple of late night experimental doodles, just directly placing blobs of paint and trying to get the silhouette right, then directly shading the imaginary structures
cheers and good night all, I gotta sleep
Hey everybody, so life was hitting hard today, hard to get much art done and had to get relegated to a late night session.
I managed to fix one of those torsos I tried rendering, redrew the skater girl and tried out some color rendering on her, also worked on that coffee study, I think I'm satisfied with it for now, based on my current abilities.
I also drew a couple of figures trying to imagine in what kind of perspective they are and figuring out what kind of box to place them in
cheers!
