Hello, thanks for the kind words Mitsuki, and yeah, that's a good idea, I'm slowly going through the videos so I must not have gotten to the part where he recommended that yet.

For now, I'm posting my first attempt at the proportions assignment from memory, it's a little embarrassing as it is, but with practice I'm sure it will look better in next interactions

Continuing with the theme of self humiliation, more attempts at drawing the figure from imagination. I think I'm going to stop here. Use some references, work on improving the aesthetic of my sketches and watch that video again before attempting again.

So I just opened Tomfoxdraws's book, "Drawing Form and Pose", and first thing I read just blows my mind. less is more, go for simple shapes, confident lines, and decide well where you place your marks. He says that the most common mistake for beginners is complicating things too much, adding too much detail and thus there are a bunch of lines with no clear decision behind them.

I'm just going to write that down here for future reference and for anyone reading if it helps. Also PSA Humble bundle is selling a huge art bundle including Painter for like 30$

Snakker here,

So today, I’ve Just been practicing drawing and painting in 3d space. I made it a point not to use any perspective lines or any type of help, just drawing and erasing and trying to make the objects as 3d as possible and make it work. The last one was a bunch of boxes I drew like that around a center point and then I tried rendering by only using square brush, all in all this workout was harder than expected but I feel its was very useful

Snakker here,

So among other obstacles to continuing with the course material, I must add, I have a tendency to just doodle on and doodle on. Today I started a physical sketchbook to start adding my notes and observations in there, which for me I think is akin to sitting down when things get real in a video game

Just because I want to focus better to learn each lesson appropriately. Anyways, going to upload my doodles of the day, these are all from imagination X_X so must have a lot of issues, but even though, the few things Ive done so far I feel have empowered me to draw the figure way way better than I thought I ever could from imagination, so that's a plus

I'll also upload a pic from my sketchbook in a sec. Any critique, tip or observation is highly appreciated

Still at work today but managed to pump out a couple of iterations on figure proportions during lunch, not sure if they are fully there yet, especially female. I struggle with female shoulders, waist placement and angle, size of legs arms and head vs torso X_X basically everything 😂

Snakker here, still just drawing from imagination. I have a good notion of anatomy because of my line of work, but not much of drawing it so I keep iterating and iterating trying to make it look good and look correct, though at this point I should probably get back to the term 1 classes I haven’t finished and doing the other assignments

Even though, I do feel I’m getting a little better but probably with a ton of errors. Trying to find a way to make the 2d figure proportion chart my own to get it into my head but have a lot of trouble drawing female figure well. I feel also that drawing the outlines of muscles makes females look too muscular and the drawing not aesthetically pleasing

I guess it shouldn’t matter at this point, but can’t help trying to get it right. Also made some hacks to make the legs look a little better and tried drawing the figure in 3d to get a better feel of the shapes in my head

If anyone has any words of wisdom let me know

I haven't started with Anatomy just yet, but I miiight have something that could help you with muscles on female bodies without making them super masculine, and that's Line Weight and Line suggestion, Marc has some pretty good videos on everything Line art related, one I'd recommend is this.
And it's also timestamped to the point I'm talking about, I think if you use Line suggestion for female muscle definition then it won't look AS masculine. And line suggestion comes towards the end of the video at roughly 7:25

Oh man, thanks for the comments and video this is exactly what I need to see/hear. It’s definitely going to be a struggle but totally worth it
