@CYP2C19 @prinzmoana thanks for the kind remarks, and I'm also figuring this out as I go
In the end I am kind of mixing the construction, the anatomy knowledge and pyramid shape. I start by analyzing the pyramid in perspective to understand its orientation then draw three spheres representing the ball and nostrils (with the skin) I then trace sort of a cylinder that tapers back towards the glabella and then fans out and back toward anterior to the frontal plane (I tend to imagine a fish head at the nose, body toward the bridge and its tail in contraposte to its body at the glabella)
After placing spheres I gently erase the lines and draw more refined lines on top to establish the actual shapes of the nose. When that is done, I start blocking in “shapes of shading” analyzing how the light hits the actual anatomy and also remembering that the nostrils almost always have that black comma shape and the bottom part of the nose always has this interesting shaded area shape thats kind of well delineated. From there I just add layers of shading making sure the nostrils and cast shadows are darker than the shading and a small highlight in the end.
I used procreate for these, using a pencil brush all the way, with a type of sanguine red over the toned paper look of the canvas which is an aesthetic I’ve seen many artists use and I kind of like the look it gives. The only other color is a very bright version of that same hue, slightly desaturated for the highlights added
Any critique is highly appreciated cheers
