I started off with a regular graphic tablet before moving to one with a screen and they are fun to use. There is an adjustment period but you get use to it with time and experience. I've heard many great things about the intuos, so the newer models may be even on par with screen tablets.

I am loving the doodles, they are great!

Anyways, here's some doodles I did while taking the perspective class 2

Nice stuff Snakker!, I'm honestly surprised you're able to so easily adapt to a non-screen tablet, I've tried for hours on end to get used to my XP-Pen Deco-01 but to no avail, I guess there's a positive to being right handed in general, that is if you're right handed, I personally have a weird mix of hand usage, right hand for mouse or sports but I'm mainly left handed xd.
Keep it up Champ, your 2 point studies look great so far, only "mistake" I can point out is your tire isn't fully in perspective cause you didn't utilize the grid Marc teaches for drawing circles/ellipses, don't know if you've watched fully through the whole video yet though, but good stuff so far!.

Thanks for pointing out the wheel mistake, I did see the process for circles in perspective, I just eyeballed it in a box X'D - it's funny though how as you are caught up just doodling, or working on a piece, that you totally miss how bad or distorted it might be

So next up are my mandatory daily gestures, it's kinda late so I only did a few, and it's very different for now while using the graphics tablet, it's so small! haha These are 2min

Ooh if only you knew how many times I've skewed the perspective on studies just cause I've been too "in the zone" XD. Great gestures especially considering you're working on a itty bitty Intuos!.

Good day everyone!

today I have a small literature update, I am one of those people who has to have a book about it if you know what I mean, so I always like supplementing what I learn with something extra and comparing different viewpoints I feel is also super beneficial.

This term (2) I planned reading 2 books, one came out to be a great supplement and the other… I think is best left for another day 😅

So this one, I finished the basics and the part in the head anatomy and I feel it is a very nice supplement to learning how to see things in 3D and goes into sufficient detail. Just not sure it is too coherent or practical overall 4/5

This one is really nice if you already have some more experience drawing heads as it goes into little detail about actual construction and much more into advanced topics like style and rendering - so I am going to leave it for another time

Since I finished that literature quickly (I will read the rest of that anatomy book woth the next terms) I decided to add some more:

This one came highly recommended so I am definitely excited to start studying it along with the anatomy classes and

This bad boy for all that perspective wizardry

I will post my thoughts once I dig in, hope it helps anyone who likes to study from books additionally to the classes

I'm athe same boat as you are. You can download those book for allegedly free online but it's a bit hard and not rewarding to read those book on my computer screen.

For me, i bought new art instruction books so I can read in my off time without burning my eyes off and also any art books I can find in charity store for inspiration.

@Gordon003 Yeah, personally I gladly pay the price if it's a good book, all that art, experience, work, blood and sweat to finally produce these volumes. Plus, they are always good to look at
So, today was a bit of a sleeper, I am investigating a bit to see if I purchase an intuos pro or a xencelabs - wonder if anyone has experience with those?

I'm exclusively doing things with graphics pen now, and I feel it's much more natural for me

Today I only managed to doodle stuff, I was very unsatisfied with my doodles today. Just one of those days I guess. Then late night, did a perspective study and some face studies

I refined the woman portrait a bit more, I think this is the best front view I've ever drawn XD Definitely room for improvement, but I have always been intimidated by front view portraids

Some work in progress.

Decided to study the rendering a bit. Using green background to enhance skin tones, block in colors, then decide more or less a value scale and as I refine I try to think of the hue variation, favoring lots of palish and magenta tones in there along with some grays. Have no idea if I'm going about this right XD but it sure is fun to try

Lol, I also know that the eyes are not exactly like the model, but I kind of like what they're doing XD Her right eye should be squinting so lower eyelid should go up a bit more hiding her iris on the medial end and her left eye (our right) is larger, slanted upwards at the lateral end and her eyeballs aren't looking in the same direction X_X but for whatever reason, I decided to render her as is, maybe I should move the highlight to make the anatomical deformity more obvious and realistic, or maybe I will fix it in painting, what do you guys think? And I don't know if there are other mistakes I haven't noticed yet

Honestly I think I won't want to go back to display tablets for now, just ordered a Wacom Intuos pro

That looks like a great tablet, similar to my Huion, and at a much better price
In the end I went with daddy Wacom to play safe and bet on the most reliable brand, especially after my woes with the Huion tablet. Then again, it also has a lot to do with apple being incompatible with anything whenever they throw out an update

Think the wacom intuos is an excellent choice, I've only heard good things and it has less compatibility issues you'll have to deal with. You have a collection of books that rival my own. The loomis books like drawing heads and hands, drawing for all its worth are a couple of good books as well.

Been painting my portrait a bit more, I am really not satisfied with it at all but its ok, if anything, it has been great hand eye coordination practice using the non screen tablet, and a chance to try painterly techniques for shading and coloring features of the face.

Saw Marc's videos on shading anything, and steps to color anything... it looks like a very digital friendly and very awesome way to shade and paint so I am definitely going to be giving this a try today
