You did a really nice job with this, the proportions look good, I think the main area for improvement here is in the values. I would recommend changing the portrait to greyscale occasinally to see what your value range looks like. The values are all pretty similar on the face minus the forehead and nose, if you can add more range on your values its really going to bring out the volumes of the face. That being said great work snakker keep it up!

Thanks Lockenheim! I'm going to take this into consideration. I'm also making a bigger effort into constructing the head and keeping the construction on my mind throughout from now on. A lot of these more rendered pieces I've done I feel I'm using the shapes I see of the shades etc and that makes me focus too much on small details that end up derailing me and then making me reshade or paint over and over again. So focusing on pure shading, no color and construction for now

Hi! As always I love looking at the amount of progress you've done!

The only thing I think her chin diple is a bit too much to the right and the left side of it also looks more "meaty"

But good job mate! Keep going at your crazy pace

@mitsuki-youko @gregorya @Araita Thanks for the comments and You're right, the eye was bigger, chin was messed and I also noted her neck was too long. Fixed it a bit and started shading, still WIP I guess, also started doodling a bit. We'll see what else I manage to do today apart from the daily gestures and head construction practice

So I was playing around in photoshop and ended up practicing a figure drawing from reference and decided to use Marc's color and shade anything steps... Might have bit more than I can chew but I'm at the point where I am shading "without a particular light source" first and was wondering if I'm doing alright? I know afterwards I would add the actual directional or colored lights in new layers. So far I shaded the chest a bit and the figure's left arm and forearm

Definitely going to keep at it. Still waiting on that self christmas gift (wacom) to get even more inspired to work harder

The shading looks pretty good so I think you're on the right track. When Marc was talking about shading without a particular light source I think he was talking about soft diffuse/bounce lighting, which is almost always present on things. I might try evening out the lighting on both sides of your figure to enhance the diffuse effect.

The whiskey glass and books look very good!

Thanks, I tried evening it out some more and then added the overlay layer to start rendering lights (I did only use one layer this time tho for both lights that I spot hitting the figure)

Hey everyone, for today's gestures I felt inspired to try something new, so I made some "paintures" XD basically, just speedy gesture then paint (10 min max each) did 3 of those and posting my finished-ish shaded and lighted figure study
