Dey everyone, been a bit lazy XD No excuses.
Took today for making a little personal study piece, just really liked the high key lighting and the pose, hope you like, any critique always appreciated!

ooo this looks great!

only critique i have is that balcony bar is too pink/white which makes it too un-contrasty (can't remember the word for that rn XD)

that beige building to the left of the bg is not in ur study but yea mainly its just that bar.

slight variations here as well.

oooooooh!! yea that bar looks GREAT now! stands out a lot better!

Everything else is AMAZING! like the skin tones, shoes, everything! its super realistic!

That looks amazing man. I really have nothing to add. It's great.
I guess a side question is... what are you aiming for with your art progress? like, are you aiming to do digital pieces? Working towards conceptual art? Can't remember if you mentioned it before.
I'm asking since that might help give some feedback on what to focus on. But in general, your work is really nice and pleasent to the eye.

To be honest, this is one area I’m a bit lacking in at the moment: personal direction 😅 I love art, always wanted to get good at it and to do digital art/digital painting mostly and I’m a big lover of classical style and realism or “imaginative realism” as Gurney calls it. I am not aiming for any particular professional spot at the moment as I have my hands full with dermatology, but if art becomes a source of income at some point that would be a plus for sure.

I guess my current goal is to learn the fundamentals, get to a point where I can confidently make bigger projects from imagination/using references to make completely original fantasy pieces in a realist painterly style in digital. Learning 3D is going to be a side venture here as well for sure. I really like Gurney’s art and it’s a big inspiration, along with big masters like rubens, bouguereau etc.

And well, where that takes me in my art journey is a mystery, as I go I will be asking myself some questions and finding out where I want to take this, might also give some traditional painting a try at some point

Oy, so you're studying dermatology? That's amazing. A doctor artist, not sure how common that is! Truth be told, that career is likely to be more profitable. It's one of those things that are never lacking customers.

That's a solid goal btw, learning for the sake of improving. You are already really good at it.

3D is something I also persued back in the day, but have sience switched focus. It's definetly something useful to at least tip into to get some appreciation for 3D sculping. Marc used Zbrush though blender seems to be standard for beginners.

Oy bests of luck with all of that, I'd say those are all solid goals for now!

Thanks mate! I’m actually a working dermatologist now, four years now - how time flies, which is actually how I finally have some time dedicate myself to art, it’s been like 17 years since I stopped drawing (end of high school/getting into med school) in hindsight, I probably could have done some art during med school-internship-residency but yeah, that didn’t happen 😂
