Yeah, Krita is pretty nice, amazing it's free

Started today with some practice - really took my time with the block in for the face so shading wasn't too hard this time, though probably wasn't the best brush choice (slanted, "loose drawing" brush throughout), will be experimenting with some 3D stuff next

Man you've come a long way with your work. Each piece seems to pack and refine more detail, and overall better and improved shadow work and colors. That girl looks great as well as the man in the cloack.

So you use Krita for the most part? I think it works great for illustration, I used it for a while before moving to CSP (mostly because of comic work), and if I wasn't doing manga, I'd probably stick with Krita with no problems. Still have it installed, it's definetly a great alternative to photoshop. Impressive it's free.

Good luck with the 3D stuff. I understand it can be quite challenging.

Thanks mate! Actually I use photoshop almost exclusively, but I like experimenting and I wanted to give krita a try 😅

Thanks! and yeah, I got zbrush - its pretty pricey though, but I'm enjoying it so far. haven't done anything too big yet, just got through the basics on the book I got, messed around here and there, tried some hard surface stuff as it was in the book just to know it exists I guess

But, believe it or not, I'm trying blender now XD if it's so good and free I may end up ditching zbrush altogether, so followed some tutorials and got to this point, not using any references so probably a million mistakes, but it's a start, was really fun!

and yea i'd go blender over zbrush simply cuz blender works and most importantly, is free XD

I see. I'm looking for alternatives for Z Brush. I do have ZBrush Mini, which is a free one.

@gregorya yeah, I think blender is a pretty good option for indicidual artists. I mean, if going pro and working in the industry I think zbrush makes more sense, also, if you make good money off it then I can understand sure, but uff, 40 a month is a bit steep for an app, that’s 480 a year just to keep using the app, just doesn’t compute in my brain. It’s bad enough having to pay for a bunch of other recurrent bills

@gregorya Yeah, but it costs like 900 bucks and won't cover updates beyond a certain point, that's like two years of the usual subscription pricing so I'm hesitant to bite that bullet.

@Gordon003 Yeah, it's fun to experiment! Just have to watch out not to get burned out from learning all this technical lingo in 3D and app specific stuff - it gets really heavy!

Haven't had much time for anything today but managed to 3d sketch an ear on a new app I tried on the ipad during off time at work, it's called Nomad Sculpt, kind of like zbrush on ipad (though I heard official zbrush is coming to ipad now). Pretty intuitive I guess because I couldn't be bothered to learn much about it - just directly played around
