Hello, guys! I'm just starting out with Artschool, and just finished the Anatomy 1 class.
I've been practicing some parts of the face, mainly on paper, but i decided to jump to photoshop just fot a quick sketch, because i wanted to see how far i could go, so i ended up spending more time detailing an eye than i expected.

I tried to apply everything i've learned so far in classes and other things. (Btw i did almost everything with a simple square custom brush i made)

Any critique would be greatly appreciated, and i hope you're having a great day!

(I still have to work on the eyelashes and overall shapes, but i didn't wanted to overcomplicate more than i already did jajaja)

A very solid start. As you move forward I would recommend focusing on making your lines smoother and getting the circle of the iris to be more circular, its just practice and working at that.

From a more content related aspect I would recommend you take a look at the blood vessels of the eye, it kind of looks like isolated cracks in the eye near the iris, they should all originate from the back of the eye and approach the front.

Keep it up!

Heya! I'm chris (chris-christianzia lol) anyways, the iris and pupil are one of the only almost perfectly round thing on the human body, so remember to always make them pretty round. also the whites of the eye is rarely pure white, also keep in mind the 3d form of the eye-ball, and the layers of skin that go over / under it.
Also go a bit less noticable with your value change, as the skin isnt reflective like metall, little goes a long way. Overdetailing while not having a strong basis is also not advisable, which is why I left away the eye-veins and lashes.
ALso (I said also like 1 million times) always use alot of refrence! ^^ of course all these shadow and plane changes are hard to memorize, but if you do enough studies you'll build up your visual library
cheers - ! :smiley_cat:

Hey, Peter! Thnak you for your words, indeed, i'm currently working on having better/smoother lines, thanks god i didn't upload the sketch haha.

I'll definitely keep an eye on those vessels, i really wasn't sure how to put them. And next time, i'll try to make the iris more circular as you said.

Thank you again!, Regards.

It's a pleasure chris haha. first of all i really like how you show the fold and both the upper and lower eyelid, i have to improve in that matter, specially shading. I'll definitely "keep an eye" in the roundness of the iris.

Bad jokes aside, thank you very much for your feedback and for taking the time to correct my eye, i already know what i have to improve just by looking at yours.

(I just noticed how big i made the tear duct... lol)

So, i made some corrections and i think it came out much better than before, thanks to the feedback.
I did some touch ups to the Iris and completely reworked the Pupil, aswell as the Eyelashes. And worked a bit on the shading to show the fold in a better way.

Do you guys think it was an improvement? Best Regards. :grinning:
