If you reside in the States of North Dakota, Vermont, Connecticut or Maryland in the United States, the Province of Quebec in Canada, or Queensland, Victoria or the Australian Capital Territory in Australia, you are not eligible to participate in this Contest.

We are well aware these restrictions are a huge bummer for you guys who are not eligible but strict laws on contests and various international shipping limitations mean we simply can't comply with everything unless we dedicate a big team to handle it, which we unfortunately do not have.

Note that while you might not be eligible, there are always ways to have a friend or family member in an eligible region enter for you.

Questions & Answers

Q: How do I apply?
A: Go to the Forums, find the WORLDS Challenge in the Art challenge category and them choose either the 2D or 3D subcategory. Create a new topic to post your art there with the right naming format. Take a look at how other participants did it. All of your progress pictures should be in that same topic. All final work in one post if you can.
No need to submit your entry to Cubebrush via e-mail.

Q: I'm posting an image in a correct (or even bigger) size but it gets resized down once uploaded. What should I do?
A: You need to make the file size smaller - either make the image a bit smaller, or compress it a bit. When all else fails, simply attach it as a file.

Q: Is there a limit on age / residence?
A: there are unfortunately some restrictions - see above

Q: What’s the deadline?
A: The deadline for the WORLDS Challenge is on October 17th 2017 @ 11h59PM PST. Late entries will NOT be considered.
For the exact time remaining check the Main WORLDS Challenge page.

Q: Is "Fanart" permitted and can we use another artist’s concept for 3D submissions?
A: Original art only!

Q: Can I use another artists complete concept?
A: Original art only, and the art must be your own - all of it.

Q: What's the maximum canvas size?
A: For now there’s no limit on maximum canvas size but don’t go crazy with the size. Keep in mind that it has to be uploaded on the forums.

Q: Will traditional entries be accepted as well?
A: No

Q: Is Collaboration with 2 or 3 people okay?
A: Yes BUT ONLY for the 3D category. 2D artists must enter solo.

Q: Is it okay to have a mix of sci-fi and fantasy?
A: No, you’ll have to choose one genre.

Q: If i want to participate in both 2D and 3D challenges, do I have to make two separate concepts ?
A: you can enter once in 2D and once in 3D. You can enter both but the entries can't share anything. They both have to be unique.

Q: Can I use 3D models / textures and photos and paint over them?
A: As far as 3D and photo textures go in the 2D category, it needs to be hardly noticeable that you used them in your final submission. For example, you can't have the textures do most of the work in 'rendering' your final illustration. Essentially, 3D can be used as a base to get the sense for lighting / forms / perspective, but not visible in the final (you can paint over it, though).

Q: Do the 3D models have to be game models with UV's and normals, etc?
A: It's not required for submission! If you're able to showcase the model with textures and everything to present it as you'd like, you're set!

So happy finally the WORLDS Challenge constest started. I have many questions about the 3D part: 1) Has the environment a polygons limit? ; 2) Are we forced to use concepts from the previous contest or can we create new ones? ; 3)
As a team, have we to write the names of the people who compose it? ; 4)All team members must be registered on Cubebrush? ; 5) The environment has to be filmed (working in game engine) or can we just take a screenshot from the rendering? ;

Are we talking stylized only in regards to the 3d environment or do we choose that ourselves?

So sad, Indonesia not in the list... i wanna join, but my country is not eligible. Btw, Singapore, Malaysia are close enough to Indonesia, why Indonesia is not included? Thx

Really want to take part in the contests, but... any chance of adding Kazakhstan to the list of countries? I mean, you got Russia, Ukraine and Belarus there already

I only have one (two-part) question:

If we're badass enough, is it possible to enter both 2D and 3D challenges, and win both top prizes?

Or would winning 1st place in one challenge hinder one's chances for 1st place in the other challenge?

I'm truly asking here. Thanks.

Guys, i want to ask. If someone else enter for me, it means he or she has to start the topic here, doesn't it? So, after he or she have posted my first topic, could I continue that topic from my country? Or has he or she always to post in every new progress/ comment?
Thank you.

@jerome you can post everything yourself and from your account - only in case you win, that person has to state that she / he was the one who entered and will receive the prices (for you).

@henfan haha, well you certainly don't lack confidence! there is no rule against it, so I don't see why not. The entries will be judged based on their quality, not on who made them.

I'm first time challenger, so I have a question about genre. Does Fantasy mean that my world could contain different unicorns, fairies and dragons? =) Thank you =))

@Cheshirka Welcome to the forums! Yes, fantasy means anything that deals with magic - including unicorns, fairies and dragons!

In a team that comes from a land beyond the legal boundaries, does everybody need a stand in or the team is represented by only one ''legal'' person if the team win? And is it wise for 3 persons that want to buff their portfolio with the contest to be reprensented by another in case of winning? If it is officially by someone in Ontario but on the artstation of someone from Quebec, it could be problematic

What is the style of work? I mean, should my world look realistic or like cartoon scene (with handpainted textures)?

@lethaos you need one person in a country where Cubebrush is allowed to ship the prizes to. if it's a person from your team, and they are willing to ship your part of the prize to you, you're all good.
You will all be named and credited properly in case of winning. The representation is only an 'internal' administrative thing between your team and Cubebrush.

@Cheshirka whichever you like best

Could anybody here download the World logo? How to download that file btw? In my pc always appears a notification which is said i am not a "hello user".

Below i copied the confirmation message

You are about to log in to the site “cubebrush.co” with the username “hello”, but the website does not require authentication. This may be an attempt to trick you.

Is “cubebrush.co” the site you want to visit?

Then, when i clicked the OK button, it would direct me to another page. :frowning:
