My logic is that regardless of how good I draw everything else if the face looks off no one will like the drawing. So I just wanted to do like a lot of portraits until I'm able to do it in my sleep before working on full body anatomy, landscapes etc. Plus with APs I kind of just want to stick in my comfort zone and start learning heavily again when summer hits.
Plus, knowing portraits actually means that I can focus on things like color, form, and valuesin studies instead of having to spend unnecessary time correcting anatomy. Makes studies more focused and streamlined, and I think focused studying with a clear goal in mind is the best way to learn something. not to mention i learned a lot of tricks and deep ideas that i think i can apply when i learn otehr things too.
