  • Thank you! I finally cleaned that up. Meanwhile started 3 more ..I have a habit of taking too long to finish a piece, then I lose interest in it and just start something else. I found 8 from recently i started and abandoned, that are decent enough to not delete, but not finished. There’s also been a number of drawings I felt I “outgrew” - became better before I finished them, and it would be easier to start from scratch than fix them. Anyone else thinking that?
  • Lady Death Fanart Collectible: Part 6 Polypaint and base Hi, it’s time to share with you another part of the process to create this fanart piece. Polypaint As this is my first collectible fanart I didn’t have previous experience with polypaint so I tried my best and played a bit with it.I wanted to give a ghostly and eerie look to Lady Death, she is beautiful and deadly, but at the end of the day she is a woman that died and was reborn at hell as an avenging spirit, that’s why I gave her skin tone a bluish very cold tone.As you will see I gave myself some creative freedom to deviate from the traditional color scheme that this characater has in comics and illustrations. To add a bit of sensuality by painting some freckles on the face and the chest. The dark nature of this character was the perfect excuse to gave her a kind of goth make up, very dark shadows around the eyes, blue lips and fingernails. I know that the original character includes sexy red lips but I wanted this girl to have a sexy but at the same time creepy look, that’s why we can see some thin veins emanating from her eyes. The biggest chromatic change I did for this character is at the hair. Lady Death has a characteristic white weavy hair but in my fanart I decided to gave her a very saturated blue color. The reason behind this wasn’t only an aesthetic choice. I want that the face area strongly pulls the attention of the viewer so this area needed a stronger contrast. Another reason is that I want her to have a more modern look, as I mentioned before, I’m strongly attracted to women with goth/punk look. I gave myself half an hour or more to analyse the work of experienced sculptors that create collectibles and I discovered that the use of darker values on the skin is often applied to create a greater sense of volume and three-dimensionality. I found that areas with heavy ambient occlusion are the perfect places to paint with darker colors in order to increase the separation between different forms. Even though she has a bluish skin tone, I used a bit of warmer hues in areas that, in real life, tend to go towards red and pink, this is very obvious in the nose, cheeks, and knuckles. Thinking with a logical mind it’s completely absurd to have warmer tones on the body of a zombie like creature but I didn’t want to limit myself by using only blue tones, it looks boring and artificial. In real life these colors are created by blood vessels in areas where the skin is very thin. ** Scythe **for her weapon I applied a cool gray with some warmer variations, this color scheme is influenced by the work of H.R giger. Base I’d like to talk about the design for the base which, to be honest, I forgot to develop along with the character. My main idea with the base is to show that Lady Death inhabits a very sterile and arid land, at the end of the day she is at hell. You can see a that she walks over dirt and rocks, a sign that she’s surrounded by death and loneliness. As part of the landscape we can see some bones and skulls to reinforce the idea of lack of living creatures, yet we can see three hands that try to reach her legs. This hands represent that all creatures are subordinated to her power and seek an evil blessing with a simple touch of the princess of the damned.1- The hand with skin burns represents the souls of those who are newcomers to hell, tortured souls that suffer for the sins comitted on earth.2- The hand with greenish rotten skin and pustules is the reminder of the decay that has infected the souls of those who have been trapped and have forgotten their humanity3- Last but not least, the hand of a demon shows that even dark creatures and entities bow before her presence. The cherry on the top, at least in my vision, are the simese twins that emerge from the ground, this malevolent creatures remind us that in hell there’s only perversion and any trace of innocence is lost. Thanks for reading till this pointI’m really happy to be very close to finish this creative journey, last but not least it’s mandatory to talk about splitting the sculpture in several pieces to be printed, this will be my last entry before showing the final rendered images. See yaMay Zbrush be with you

Outfits and rest is from imagination Something went wrong while installing system so we will have to wipe everything again... pc works but something is wrong. We will wait till internet is done and I will save everything on cloud this time Threads came out in eu. It's been 3 days and I had more engagement than after half a year on instagram. It feels really nice I hope it stays this way A portrait of old dude. It's the same character I posted a while ago. Inspired by Bayard Wu work. At first I thought of him as a bear but I named him Fenrir and I think wolf suits him better. Eye gave me a bit of hard time but I think it is fine now. I focused on face and forgot about area below. The way I draw hair clashes with greying hair. I had the same problem while doing Lohse's white hair. Does it looks like it is greying here? I love how desaturated red looks blue there. I keep lying to myself that I will use different color scheme but It all comes down to this blue and yellowish one it is just flipped this time Have a great day!

First i gotta say one thing:

I apologise for any wrong word used, english is not my first language, and i'am not using it so often

So here we go

Name: Cláudio Germano
Email: claudiogsap@hotmail.com

I definitely gonna choose team fantasy, the best team in the whole art world woooo

Ahem

Iam still refining the lines of the drawing, so, yeah, really rough sketch at the time D:

I decided to do a little background history for the chacarater, so that way, she could have a motif to really taking her part in the Artwar. She is a really rare kind of succubus who actually preys on the creativity of others to live, soooo, when the Sci-fi Empire (avatar references wee) treatens the flow of the people creativity, well, she decided to do something, and she's pissed, do not mess with her food xD

Coooool, at first glance I thought she was a shinigami but maybe that and succubus are the same thing hmmm
very cute face but the hands... the doom of every artist, including me

I never tought about the shinigami thing, and is a great ideia  i'll gonna experiment a little while i work more in her concept

and about the hands, i was just trying out the pose while i was sketching, so i didn't work so much on then, and some other parts of the sketch, but i gotta say that i really do struggle a lot with hands x-x

I'm working on some of Mikami's clothes concepts.
I don't know how i'm gonna pick one, gotta say i liked very much of the first and third one, bu there's something in the second design that draws my eye.
I'll keep going on experimenting a little bit more with the designs, so that i can finally move to the color pallet

First off, let me say, I really like your character design.

I thought I'd give you my opinion.

Design 1 - Give your character an elegant feel. One which I think fits a succubus as they tend to charm their victims.

Design 2 - I feel like she feels more tough, I might even say a brute type.

Design 3 - Has a strong demanding feel, like someone who is addressing their subjects / followers.

I am not sure what kind "feel" you are going for but, I thought an extra opinion wouldn't hurt.

I'm actually didn't thought much about the feel of the character, just thought a succubus that eats creativity would be a cool one to draw and continued to work on that ideia.

When @mavkrogan Mavkrogan said i looked like a Shinigami i trully liked the ideia of it, which i tried to represent in the third design with the ideia of a shepherd leading he's herd, but instead of sheeps, it would be souls or the creativity of the ones tha fallen in the Artwar(thinking of it now, gave me an ideia for the final illustration :grinning:)

But in general i was just trying to make it to look cool when i was drawing the concepts, and trying to follow the "small, medium, large" ideia of an pleasing design(Kienan Lafferty talks a lot about it in he's youtube channel, it's worth checking out, i learned much with him).

I appreciate your opinion, it's going to help a lot in the drawing development.

Hey guys

So i finally starting to coloring the concepts and already can see that the first and third one from earlier are definitely my favorites in terms of color and shapes, even though i did liked the second one it feels a little bit too bland, so i'll not use it :T

So yeah, i dicided to add a more in her background so that she could be the one who leads the creativity of the fallen champions so that their art thoughts and feelings would never be lost and aways remembered, i really think its a cool ideia for the character and will stick with it.

That said, i'll work a little more around the Shinshoku, who are priest responsible of taking care of the Shinto shrines in Japan, Shinshoku are said to be intermediaries of God's and could transmit their will to the humans, i'll work around this concept a bit further and finally finish this character using parts i liked most in the first and third one.

First of all, merry christmas for all of you

This was a really busy week, so i wasn't able to work much on Mikami, sadly :T

I wasn't shure of her old face so i was trying out some other ideas, still i'm not really ok with this one i got over here, my biggest difficulty is definitely the hair covering the eyes, i think that it is taking away her expression, gonna work more on that later tomorrow.

Overral, i think her silhouette is good, and the magical-like horns give a her an fanciful look without losing the early demonic aspect of the character, i'am happy with the braids, but like i said, i'm not shure about this hair at all @-@

See you all soon

And then, i woke up, eat some leftovers from christmas supper, and when i open the photoshop file i was unpleased with yesterday paint of the face, got frustrated and all, but we have to finish what we star right?

So, after almost an full day of christmas food and art, this is the final reesults, im really not shure about some stuff, that i'll probaly change in the final illustration(the bandaged mouth for example).

So yeah, i dont feel like changing it anymore, because i know i'll probaly gonna get bored of changing it soon enough if i keep trying too hard on it x-x

I did one quick version of the back so you guys can have an ideia of how is the back of the character.

First time i did it though, and god damn is hard to get things right D:

Anyway, going to show you guys some thumbnails soon, i'm with some ideias in mind already, let's see how this turn out

Oh, almost forgot, i did some changes to her background story, so that's why she's back to her red skin color, i'll update you guys of the changes when i show the thumbnails.

It's cool to see how hard you're working on your champion.
I like her unemotional expression although she is eating creativity. How is she eating/destroying creativity? With her hands or weapon? Has she a storage to keep it? Wow I'm so hyped by your idea  Pretty cool, keep it up!

And the post christmas gave me an awful information :T

I don't know when it changed, but it seems my country is no more eligible for the contest D:

You see, i live in Brazil, when i sall it was an worldwide contest i was glad, but, no more, sadly

i'll probably gonna finish the illustration, since i liked so much working the character, and for first time actually concepting something in the small details...

Not gonna complain much, since i know how crappy shipping laws for my country are, it's just sad :T

But how i said, i'll show you guys my final illustration when its done, maybe an gif with the painting process and all, who knows xD.

Good luck for all of you that are still able to participate, and happy new year :grinning:

17 days later

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, it's done

Final illustration, yaaaaaaay -

rushed, buuuuut, i gotta say i had some great results with this piece, and lots of fun.

Even if i'am unable to win i had to finish this, artist pride you know? xD

I said i was telling you guys her new background when i finish the illustration, so here we go:

When she was alive, Mikami was an stray demon who was preying on artist's creativity, she ended up dying in the Artwars from an laser shot, after meeting up with the Art god, he then said that she could redeem herself from her past sins, she accepted, and then, became an guide for the lost spirits of the fallen artists in the Artwars. Looking for redemption she then began guiding those spirits.

That's what i tried to represent in the illustration, an lone moment of peace in the Artwars where she gathers some creativity spirits to guide them for ascencion.

Hope you all enjoy this, as i liked painting it

As soon as i learn how to make a gif. i show you guys the painting process, buuuuuut, i may take some time xD

Good luck for all of you who may still be elegible for winning and always remember:

To believe in your dreams, is to make art happen.
