My concept is a magical guardian of books in the fantasy side of the world.
Here is an early sketches of him. The main idea is that he is a beast that has limbs made of shadow/black material that can stretch into any shape/length (convenient for placing books in higher shelves).
It doesn't really reflect the kind of vibe I am going for because he just looks like a lanky nerd right now, but I am hoping to make him look more intimidating/creepy.
