Hi Hi,

Not entered a competition since the old site forums! also, haven't painted in awhile so I'm a little rusty!

This is the start of my character. Pego I want the design for Pego to come across like he is a small, quick, nimble fighter, who bounces from tree to tree taking down his foes. kinda like a mini assassin.

Sorry if the stylized look isn't for everyone, I'm still trying my hand at the realistic stuff but just isn't coming out as I want it. Plus this piece is meant to be a bit humorous

You can do what ever style you want. Doesn't have to be realistic at all. Just do whats fun to you. For coloring, will you be going for a cel-shaded look? Or a semi-rendered look(for example Overwatch or LOL)? I think it would be cool to see this in the style of the new zelda game coming out. A cool colorful palette that's bursting with energy. Keep up the good work. This is a good start.

I'm probably going to go for a semi-rendered thing. In terms of color, you pretty much nailed what I want to go for, really colorful and vibrant. I have this idea to put him into an environment where he doesn't quite fit in (surrounded by humans in armour etc. in like a fantasy city setting (maybe a market) where there will be a lot of colour glad you like it so far:smile:

Don't worry about the style. Cartoonish is totally fine! And I'm happy that you decide to lean towards it.

Just a small update, Christmas holidays been keeping me busy,
messed about with a bunch of backgrounds but liked this one as I have a kinda vision for it I think.

also been working on some clothes for him but the scene will kinda impact what he wears so I want to decide on that first

Starting to have a bit of fun with this character xD
The original scene I was going for didn't really fit the personality I wanted this character to have/ didn't fit with his character.

So I started thinking, if I was watching this guy in a show or playing him in a game, what would be the most memorable bits. hence the running away from a giant monster after stealing something from him or badly attempting to tame a dragon xD I dunno just seems more fun to me than him standing there in front of a man.

I'm leaning more towards composition A and B as I think they are a bit more humorous and go with a kinda clumsy hero type.

Definitely A and B would be the best choice if it came down to it but C and D could work to if the character wasn't copy and pasted over to one another. If you gave him a little bit more curiosity on to what ever he's looking at in C and a little bit more scared or nervousness to where ever he's at in D you would then have more option than A and B, looking good so far though, just keep that in mind

Yeah I agree C & D could work, the copy and pasting of the character was just to save time to be honest while thinking about composition.

But in terms of the feel im going for with the comedic value. I leaning more towards B if i can get it to look right. Don't want the dragon taking over the character visually.

messing around with the dragon composition.
Not sure about a couple of things, I don't think he looks as cute as before, more like a psycho haha

will look at it again tomorrow to try a few more expressions and maybe correct the perspective a little.
