Glad I could be a part of this! I think I've improved a lot from pushing myself here.

A summarized backstory:
He was born to a mage and a warrior-race hunter. Raised as a half-blood, he grew up struggling to hunt with his people due to being less naturally strong. Overtime, he learned to channel his latent magical ability to keep up with, and eventually outpace, his fellow hunters. He now travels the world, hunting monsters, beasts, and assorted evils, and searching for experiences that could make a good story. He swears the stories he writes aren't exaggerated at all.

Update! Some of my more successful exploration sketches, this is about all I can do for now since I'm in the middle of finals.

Basically want to combine magic with a lancer. He uses lightning magic to both attack and make himself fast as wait for it lightning. Hold your applause for this totally original idea, thanks.

Seems like this one is going to be very light-ningy
Some strong thumbs hard to pick, like them all

2, and 1 stood out to me and 10's suit design and hair maybe look good also, boy that was tough. Good luck looks good so far.

Appreciate your feedback, my dude. 2 and 1 were ones that stood out to me, as well. Along with 3, 9 and 14. I'm working on thumbnails for the illustration atm since I'm kind of stuck as far as the final design goes :^)

But with finals over, and having recuperated a bit, I can finally put all my time into this

I see a lot of good ideas. I think it depends what style you want from this character. 3 remind me of a monk character. 1 more of a druid style. 6 paladin/knight etc.

@bohater13 Yeah I get what you're saying. I want him to feel kind of like an assassin? Not that he's an assassin by any means. He's just speed based, etc. but also a mage. So I was trying to combine a kind of "yeah I used to study magic" aesthetic (in the casually-worn robe) with some light armor to say that he welcomes melee combat.

3! Avoiding/repelling an attack, that's uncommon around here. Also, the composition is nice.
4 and 6 seem to be promising too.

Somehow I like the 4th as well, even if I'm not really sure what is the idea behind it ^^

@innocent @mr_dessin Dodging is the basis of his fighting style, so I'm glad that comes across well in 3.

4 is more playing on his "I write stories of my own heroic deeds." He's sitting on a monster of some kind that he just killed, his spear stuck in its head. I was gonna have a dragon/monster fleeing in fear or coming to avenge its kin, and he would be channeling some lightning in his pen with a smug look on his face like he's saying "Oh, would you like to go a round, too?"
I couldn't decide on the angle I wanted, so I just threw the idea down really fast so I would remember it.

AS SUCH, I ended up going with number 2 after working a few of them up a bit (after losing a few days to visiting family for the holidays). This is where I'm at now. Here's hoping I can finish on time! Critique always welcome!

Great thumb!
For the dragon shoulder pad i would say the top left, because the teeth from the bottom jaw coming out of the metal is a really nice idea.

@innocent Thanks! I'm still pretty torn about that since I like that part of that design as well.

Update with a little color and background. Removed the noise around the knees/elbow/feet for more of a sleek look. Still considering if the boots will be armored or leather

If you can't decide between armored or leather juste use what's giving you a better readability.
For now it looks like she's spurting flames out of her back. /!\

Update: still fine tuning details and working things out (hence the lines) but its coming together I think. Gonna work on it all day today

@innocent Hmm, I'll try moving the fire around. I may even just have it hitting some ruins or something like the one in the back. Thanks for your input my man!
