I'm new here so hi everyone!
I little bit of the backstory of the character:
The Elder One (since I haven't come up with a name for her) is a powerful shaman from a tribe of dragon descendants. Her tribe has always admired and worshipped the dragons which has led to prosperity and peace for many years. Every few generations the dragons would sign a blood pact with the tribal chief, resulting in the birth of a child, a boy or a girl with dragon blood running through their veins (the dragons can have humanoid forms lol ). A daughter of the last tribal chief, she has seen many wars since young age and has witnessed the fall of the dragon flight. Despite being mighty and proud creatures, fear and hatred from the human nations have turned them into a species on the brink of extinction. With the very few living dragons gone into hiding, she has to lead her tribe and protect the dragon heritage. Other than being a shaman with strong connections with the nature, The Elder One is a pyromancer thanks to the dragon blood running through her veins. She has also got 4 arms similarly to most members of her tribe (it's some sort of mutation that happens to the human body because of the dragon blood). I still don't know how that will work anatomically but I am currently experimenting to find out where the most appropriate location of the 2nd set of arms would be.

Some quick thumbnail silhouettes. Trying to figure out her age and size, I want to give her more of a lively appearance but also show her age and power.

I finally have more time to work on this, so here are some more sketches exploring a bunch of designs.

Here are some face explorations. I'm probably going with something similar to the third one. I like the idea of her having a skin condition like the vitiligo one (4th one) but I think it's giving her more of a lioness look which is not what I'm after.

I made some adjustments to the overall mood of the image to match what I had initially planned for the illustration. I'm slowly getting there. I might change the pose of one of the guys to make it more dynamic but also to portray that they're the ones attacking her rather than the other way around as it's currently a bit confusing.

I made some more adjustments to the image. I also ended up shortening the staff as I felt like it was too distracting next to the head of the dragon.
