Here are the first quick sketches done to define the basic shape and mood of the character. I want to create contrast between ethereal and sharp parts, giving the character a misterious yet dangerous look.

For the face I used as reference the veiled figures (as The veiled virgin by Strazza), it will only be intuited but not seen.

I've done some composition and colour schemes tests and these are my favourite 2. Which one do you like the most?

Also, a bit more about the character's story:

Once a queen, her reign fell into disgrace after war and turned into ashes. No life could ever again live in that poisoned land, everyone died or left and no plant grew anymore. But the spirit of the queen got linked to the castle she ruled in, whitnessing for the eternity what her acts caused.

At first she was just a spectre, wandering among the ruins of a forgotten land, but as years passed her power grew stronger and she started conquering towns, then whole kingdoms, bringing people to the spectral side as her subjects, wishing to bring back the splendor to her kingdom.
