After having been imprisoned for decades, the sorceress Agnimitra has escaped and is now building an army to exact revenge on her enemies in the forthcoming war.

Really had fun with this, so glad I was able to finish this year. I'm already looking forward to next years Art War, and to see how far I'll have come.

Hi everyone. Entering late, I know, but I had to wait for the parts for my new PC to come in.

This is my second time entering this contest, but last year I had to drop out due to school ramping up, but this year I'm hoping to get a finished design out.

Here are some silhouettes I threw together for Agnimitra.

My first sketches. I'm feeling out wether I want her to be more of a warrior-like character, more of a celtic-like mystic, or put more emphasis on her having been held prisoner.

Decided to go with the ragged look. I came up with a couple crown designs, as I wanted to give her a floating crown made of fire. I also added the first of some sigils/symbols that will be spread across her body and glowing as she uses her fire.

Trying to find a hairstyle that suits her, or if she would be better bald. Hair is not my strongest area and I had trouble even finding references for it. I also added more chains around her body for more of a shackled look.

The choice of hairstyle can be dependent on what her personality will be. If she's graceful or dignified, long hair would be best. If she's hot-blooded or punkish, short hair will be better.

If I had to choose purely by eye though, I prefer either the bottom-left or bottom-right. I like the floating crown. ^^

She is regal, but with an insanity that is visibly simmering just beneath the surface. If you're familiar with the TV show Avatar, I'm thinking the character Azula near the end of the series before she finally snapped.

And thank you ^^

Started working on cleaning up the design. This is my first pass at cleaning the line work and sharpening/adding details.

I got the final line work for Agnimitra down, so I started fleshing out the composition. I reduced the chain on her neck because I felt it was still too obstructive. I also raised her left leg to be standing on an elevated platform.

The skeletal soldiers I based loosely off of Roman soldiers. The will be wreathed in flames, with the ones in the back being almost completely shrouded in a mist, with their glowing eyes visible.

I started work on the final colouring. This was my first time painting hair and fire, and it was every bit as difficult as I thought it would have been lol But I am pretty proud with how it turned out.

Final version, really happy with how it came out ^^ was starting to worry that I wouldn't make it in time lol
