Hey guys heres some character thumbnail explorations I sketched, I tried changing up his battery/generator configuration in some and tried experimenting with different weapons and sidearms just to see if I'd find something that I'd like to add on top or change on my original design.

would love to hear your guy's pick too!

Character Bio:

Growing up Grell was obsessed with magic . unfortunately he was born with no trace of magical blood.

Regardless, he dedicated his life to science and swordsmanship hoping one day he will be knowledgeable enough to wield the elements through science and his swordmanship.

@tj-works yeah this year I want to go back to my stylized roots since I've been leaning on more realistic renderings on my personal work and actual work , growing up I would always draw characters from Final Fantasy games and Kingdom Hearts. but for the final illustration I'm looking into League of Legends splash art and Legends of Runeterra for the quality to aim at even though I'm short on time and those artworks take months and a team of artists

@nesokaiyoh the greatsword is awesome too! I could also go that route , could really see it looking really cool in the illustration , my first pick would be sword and shield since Its just so simple but works so well!

lots of stuff got in the way perfectly timed with the final artwar week , but nothing like
good ol' CRUNCH

I'm starting to work on the Illustration right now

Heres the final pick for the weapons , asked for opinions from all around social media big pics were Swords and Shield , the original design (A) , Katana , and Gunslinger , I went with the shield because its an interesting shape for the silhouette and took the katana to change up the sword a little bit , rather than a normal double edged one!

Hey guys.

I'm currently taking a break from the illustration. but here are my thumbnail sketches for comp and mood + lighting.

after I made all 3 I still feel I'm gravitated to the 1st thumbnail sketch but compared to the two others, I feel that this one is just strong on lighting and mood but story-wise its non existent just cool pose and lighting

2nd thumbnail sketch I really love but after I made the 3rd one I realized the 2nd thumbnail sketch feels really static and boxed in.

So I went with the 3rd one as I feel like its dynamic , has story and has right balance of mood between all 3.

Here is just a few sketches I made trying to figure out how to draw sword trails / lightning trails to connect the sword to the shield visually. was later applied to the third illustration thumb

hey guys its ultra crunch time here at my end , crunching with other friends on discord for our finals heres a few updates !

Here is what I could come up with within 20 hours of painting , havent slept yet lol, for me this is so unpolished and would love to spend 2 or 3 more days polishing everything before I put it on my online portfolio , but for now this is my final submission for Artwar its been fun! next time ill definitely try to join in early to get a better chance!
