Here is my participation to the ArtWar challenge : this is Hellia, a Fire soldier, half elemental and half human, she use the power of magma and lava to carbonize her ennemies.

Artstation : https://www.artstation.com/likonico

I made few concept to define her design, initialy I wanted her using fire or lava, but I changed my mind to make her using her body as a weapon, with the magma element.
So she can turn part of her body to magma and use it to burn her ennemies or environment.

What do you think ? If you have any critics or advices, don't hesitate ! Thanks

I started the final version after some researchs for the better composition. I wanted her to have a strong pose which show her, impressive and dangerous.

What are your thoughts ?

Hi liko! Maybe some kung fu pose matching her body figthing style?

Hey Din !
Hummm, not a bad idea, but I had a vision more rough and violent than kung-fu style in my mind.
Also I wanted to avoid to copy too much on stuff like "The last Airbender", she is already using lava power, and kung fu style techniques are really the base of Avatar so... :stuck_out_tongue:

I'm gonna push it further and show the next step tonight I hope, to show the colors key I choose for this one.

anyways, thanks for your idea, I appreciate !

Quick update before bed, I'm feeling a bit stuck, especially with the background and its influence on the general composition, I explored different ideas to push my concept further.

I choose a snow environment, to play with colors HOT/COLD with the snow and the magma, so the idea of a volcano behind appears, but maybe it complexify too much the global image, and make some part hard to read...
Any comments or advices are very welcome !

Hi all ! Quick update to show the progress, I started to play with colors, I have the general mood colors but I still have a lot of work on it, but I need to sleep a bit... :stuck_out_tongue:

Every comments, critics and advices are welcome !

I think thumbnail D makes her stand out the most! C, at least for me, kind of feels like there's competing focal points between her and the volcano since the lava and her are almost the same value. Maybe pushing the lava more into the background / making it darker would help?
Really digging the colors so far!! Looking forward to seeing more~

Thank you Veesketch for your feedback ! I agree, the lava on the volcano in the background is too similar in value with the character, but I'm thinking, should I remove the dead body and keep the volcano ? Or the opposite, keeping the dead body and remove the volcano ?
I think there are too many elements on the center of the picture, and some parts have to be removed, but I'm still not sure which to choose :stuck_out_tongue:

I agree that composition D was initially what I started with montains very simple, to add a more graphic composition behind, but maybe no background could work as in compo A isn't ?

Latest version is out ! If you have any advices or crictiscim, please don't hesitate !
