Amphibi or Phibi is the ancient mystical creature of axolotl race that leads souls of drowned to the underwater world. She is sneaky, smart and well-trained enough to pass the tricky way there. Only special members of Guardians of Atlanta are allowed to carry the souls. It's the greatest treasure that she carries in her capsule backpack because every soul bubble gives it's owner total control of water element. There are people willing to own that power and her mission is to protect that luggage.
Besides the magic of water that she perfectly knows, Phibi is also a great healer and has great regeneration. Also, she is witty and talks 24/7. Monsters that face her beg for a mercy because Phibi easily catfishes everyone with her words.
Why Axolotl?
We all love these awesome alien creatures that remind us Pokemon characters. They went viral, and it's so fantastic to see how nature can inspire artists (I'm not an exception). We draw elements this year - what could be closer to the environment? But sadly, these cuties are critically endangered. And if my piece will make some people think of the way we treat these guys, I'll be so god happy. Nature is cool! Don't make axolotls sad:)

Cute concept with the axolotls. What step is next for you?

Merci:> I will do stream today of making a concept#1 outlining all the main features of her, assets and final look. The concept#2 will be the final polished work with a bg which I start making in 2 days

Omg, what is this? A digital concept of my oc. So, here we go - I continue to develop the idea of axolotl. I picture Phibi in motion, while she uses one of her soul bubble to call water magic. She transports them in a transparent capsule-like backpack (Hello, Death Stranding)). Phibi is a protector in the first place and she doesn't have any weapons with her accept water magic knowledge and witty mind. She doesn't attacks but defends. That's important to mention this drawing is for the concept piece, not for the final. I decided to set her in that pose to show every main feature of her costume design, .. and maybe because we don't that pay attention on anatomy making a dynamic pose cause it's in motion = rough and quick. Forget, I didn't say that:p
Anyway, I also put simple shading there. I don't know as for you but it always makes my workflow waaaay easier in a final stage, plus I definitely had fun "sculpturing" Phibi. It's good to see her in volume now. So far, so good. Hope you like Phibi, she's awesome:3
I bet you saw them before but didn't know the name. Now you got it!

Hello there, here is the weekly progress. I'm still on the conceptual stage. But hey, now I put some colors on the palette. Basically, this is how I imagine her sacral carry - a glass backpack that contains souls that she leads to Atlanta. Once again, one of these soul eggs gives you atheability to control the water, that's why they are so desirable. I'm used to draw in more organic and natural direction but this time I will try myself in techno style

10 days later

Hello,my art fellas, I don't think there is a great need to draw face exploring concepts like that but it definitely makes easier for me to understand my oc's emotional background. So, I will attach them - let it be

Finally, here is the process of the final entry. I'd like to depict her in a sci-fi underwater world with drowned Atlanta technologies and ancient ruined city. As for the pose, I really wanted smth dynamic with an unusual perspective angle and body twist. I hope it looks a bit like that. As regular, I start with an ugly thumbnail to set the values and then do color palette setting and later - soft rendering. My common bad is that I might focus on the one detail sometimes, like I'm a jeweler making a necklace. But this time, I force myself to keep an eye on the whole picture:>
