Always missing the artwar event, and this year I am only able to join 5 days before the deadline. D:
I will give my best to get something done for this year and update as often as possible until the deadline!

Since I don't have much time left to finish something for this event I wanted to stick with whatever comes to my mind first.
The idea I had, was to have a colossal beast in some kind of diving suit using a mounted harpoon as a weapon.
Although I really like the idea, it does not support the idea of the elementals, because in this case water is nothing more than its habitat.
Sooooo... it's back to the drawing board I guess

EDIT:
I kept the general idea of the title and thought of a creature living in the depths of the waters. However, I switched the character's element from water to lightning and wanted to go with a Jellyfish as the overall concept. I did some sketches to explore this idea.
While humanoid animals are not exactly the most innovative idea, I like how the tail of the jellyfish transforms into the character's dress in 1 and 3.
The last two were just some goofy ideas I had where 5 is a mind-controlled monster looking like a jellyfish and number 6 being a jellyfish controlling a mech.

Tell me which one you like the most while I continue to elaborate some of these ideas

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do much yesterday :C
But here are some iterations of number 1, which got the most positive feedback.

I think out of these 4 number 4 is my favorite and I will flesh it out a bit more. But let me know which one you like most!

I also made a sci-fi version as suggested by EllyettWee. I still like the idea but tbh I was not able to properly deliver on that. I'm sorry D:

Goal for today is to settle on a final design, get some thumbnails done for the composition and start with the final piece. Wish me luck :'D

Update: I don't know if I will be able to reach the goal declared earlier today as the dress... veil....tail.... thingy of the jellyfish is tougher than I thought D:
But here is the current state of the design to show some progress!

I am nowhere near satisfied with the rendering stage of this one D: But it will do as a design and mood concept for now. Since the deadline is coming closer I will just move to thumbnailing and start with the final piece. I guess I will figure out part of the design during the progress :'D

Update: My Thumbnails are very chaotic but maybe you are still able to pinpoint a favorite :'D

Getting close to the desired mood. Sill having trouble with the cloth D:

Fixed the character's pose, added gills at her ribs, made her face look less human like , returned to greyscale and FINALY got some cloth that seems to work
Now it's time to paint and render /blend this! Not sure if I can complete it until deadline tho :C

I didn't reach the quality I wanted, but I got at least a presentable result within only a few days.
I will definitely finish this project after submission!
