So, here are the explanations!
I want to create a modern pyromancer in the name of Captain E. Roy.
I've always liked the idea of combining extraordinary things (such as magic or old technologies) with modern life, so I've imagined how a pyromancer would do if he was integrated in the current military. Long story short, Avatar and the firebenders, but nowadays.
The goal here is to do a special forces operative rather than a huge bulldozer; in my idea, this kind of soldiers would be deployed usually in secret and only for specialized mission like counter-terrorism, direct action against high-value target or special reconnaissance. Their equipment reflects these fast paced operations, and there won't be any bulky things, just the optimized load-out for the mission. Captain Roy would be an operative from a secret special force called SFOD (K) - Special Forces Operational Detachment (Kilo squad) - and would be a veteran soldier for the Fire faction.
To stay in the challenge's brief, I'll put the fire emblem as the shoulder patches' emblem. The soldier will have a weapon, but he'd use mostly his fists to throw fire during combat; I also want to cover his face in order to, 1, keep the secrecy around him and his unit, and 2, to make him scarier in the battlefield. Here's a few references I gathered:
Right now, I'm hesitating between two options for the face cover, either with a gas mask or with a net. The gas mask would be for the global style but also for protecting the soldier from the toxic fumes of his fires, whereas the net would be only for the scary and mysterious appearance.
Next time, I'll post the shoulder patch emblem!
