The character I've decided to do is avatar of britain's historical naval power.
So to start this I decided to get all the ideas that were paralysing me out of my head so I can concentrate on actually designing, I'm only fond of a few elements so far but at least now I can start properly.
Now that I got the bad ideas out my head can start designing properly so here are some silhouettes to start with!
E looks badass man o.o but I also like F. When I was a few days in London, it rained aaaaaall the time haha xD Umbrella characters are cool 👌🏼

I'm liking E and A. What would A look like with the sharks around it?
I've been forgetting to post my progress here whoops! Anyways here's a bulk post of what I've been up to! I played with some of the silhouettes and ended up choosing F, I'm still working on finishing the design (it just doesn't feel right yet) but hopefully by the end of the week I should be sorted!

Awsome sketched with some nice perspective! I like C and E above (the second E as theres 2...). Really like the shetch of the mech with the closed umberella and cloak.
E and F are my favorites bc they really look like a water type character I think F is even more fitting for England theme. Would love to see more of it. Wonderful sketches btw 😍

I was wondering when will you re-emerge with your awesome designs I kept seeing. Spiky umbrella girl with fluffy collar is still my favorite.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I've been working on the head/crown area, I'm try to give it that regal feel and so far I'm edging towards B.

I have been an unwitting victim of the sunk cost fallacy, trying for weeks to fit a square peg through a round hole so I bit the bullet and redesigned the character again!
I took the brolly design into zbrush to do some quick explorations because I was struggling visualising some of the more complex shapes.
Here's a quick painting of the character, it's been 3 months since I’ve done any rendering and man do I feel rusty!

Illustration is a struggle. It uses those rarely utilized parts of my brain leading to every decision feeling like happenstance, this stumbling through the dark is exciting though as even I don't know what the end product will be . Lets hope I can fumble my way to something good but in the meantime here are some thumbnails for the illustration.
