Coming back here to explain my character a bit more:
I chose the country because my family comes from there and I was raised with my family's culture and way of doing things. However, since they come from a time where the Soviet Union still existed I also have a lot of Russian influence, and holding the Russian and Ukrainian parts apart proved to be harder than I initially thought it would be.
So I did a bit of research and concept art over the past week. I still don't feel like I'm 100% there yet but I'm getting close! (Thanks a lot to my grandma who explained to me what's Russian and what's Ukrainian culture only haha).
At the same time also trying out different workflow methods presented by our teachers!
Moodboard first: Filling it with Ukrainian designs and character inspirations
First Concept Ideas with Thumbnail Sketching and Silhouette Sketching
Continued with Sketching out a few Outfit Designs and checking the silhouettes. I really liked this stage of the process!
I'm a bit stuck now since I like some of these already but I'm not sure whether to continue with the next stage or try out a bit more. Hoping to get some feedback from a teacher and then I'll see how I continue tomorrow!
