@dreamsequenz it is better to follow the rules and make the best piece you can! Not following the brief is definitely seen as a flaw by the judges and it will prevent you from winning.

@moirae it is in the brief, under the Judging section. And as was said before, anyone who doesn't follow the rules will be disqualified from wining.
I would prefer to not spam this topic more than necessary. It's possible judges either interpreted a particular pose as defending which you didn't, or maybe they found a piece so exceptional they wanted to highlight it despite the flaw - I wouldn't know as I am not a judge, nor a part of the judging process. But in the end, they carefully chose the winner which they considered the best, according to the rules, the brief and their high standards.

If you want to participate just for fun and not follow the rules, you are free to do so. We will not ban you for that, or prevent you in any other way. However, any entry not following the rules will be disqualified from wining.

Not sure what you mean here? Are you asking if you can show a character attacking and defending at the same time? For example they are attacking an enemy while showcasing the people or things in the background they are protecting?
If so then I believe it might be ok. It all relies on how the judges interpret the final illustration. Most likely best way to approach it is to have one aspect be stronger than the other.

Hi everyone! Maybe this is a silly question but when should we "submit" our entry?
I read the instructions and it's a little bit confusing. Should we submit when we are done or with our first post of our progress? It looks like if you submit early and update often you can get more exposure, but not sure what's more recommendable as the first posts will be very "work in progress" stuff... Thanks!!

Hi @danimarti! If I understand your question correctly, you start by making your topic where you will post your skteches and work in progress over time. You already made that step, so that's good! People will then be able to give you feedback and you can discuss ideas. When your work is done, you then use the "submit entry" button to submit your final entry for the contest.

Please tell me if it is possible to portray a zombie character in the final illustration? Is the presence of blood permissible in the work?

@lesnoielf8 the entries should be safe for work. A zombie character is okay, but gore isn't.

Hi cubebrush! I have a question or may be even suggestion. Can we please have any references on right one fighting or defending poses for final submissions? Just some examples. I remember ArtWarIV when some of the final 30 works were really mixed and some of them didn't have any defending of fighthing poses - just simple idle poses and they still were chosen as finals. There was a lot of negative talks because of it and it could be nice to avoid it this time.

Hi! Your character can be of any age and you can do it in any style you want. It doesn't even have to be a human. You can do pretty much anything you can think of, as long as your entry follows the rules laid out in the contest's brief.

Hi i have a mech and a pilot (the pilot will be the main character) Do i have to also show front and backside of the mech or is it ok to just show it in the final image? Asking this because its supposed to be an extension of the character itself idk

@rina_alder Hi! Sorry for the late reply. We are aware that the current situation in Belarus is complicated, but we try to keep the rules as straightforward as possible. This means that if you pick Belarus as your country you'll have to pick their current official flag. You can use it without any prejudice and the judges won't take any political stand point into account when judging your work. And if you are still unsure or uncomfortable with that choice you can also pick another country to represent.

As for blood, I'd say try to keep it at a minimum as the rules do mention to keep your entry at a ''safe for work'' level.

@dreamsequenz Hi! If your mech is an integral part of your character's design, it should probably be included in the front and back view of your concept sheet.

@Changiz you can participate in the contest for fun, but you will not be able to win any prizes.
However, if you have a friend or family member in an eligible country, they could receive the prizes for you and then send them to you later.
