hey! i like your astronaut studies, wanted to ask if you've ever seen jeremy geddes' work?
also wanted to crit your headshot sketch! i did a paintover

the biggest issues i saw were the saturation and use of 3 light sources (minus eyes) that portray the primary colors so strongly. they also held against the figures colors too strongly imo. ie the blue light against an ochre skin would push the reflected light towards a toned green.

i tried to minimized the light sources effect. if a design is good, it will hold in dim light, and your's did.

@ni0sh Yea I used to look at his work a lot when I started school way back when. And as for the feedback --Thanks!-- Yea that helps a lot! I appreciate you taking the time to do that I tried some anthony jones techniques and am still on the fence if his style is something I want to put in my wheel house though. Its so fast one has to be very economical with their brush strokes.

And some space suit ideas for up coming illustration. These are fun I will do a few more I think.

What the hell....

It's been a real struggle for all of us this last year. And may still be. Hopefully all is going well for you and yours..

I have a job working outside with people that have nothing to do with art and I drew them as 'Rick and Morty style' caricatures and they are so amazed by it that it was comical to me to see their reactions. But it reminded me that what we do is magical to so many people. It's easy to forget that, especially when you join the rat race for different reasons than when you drew as a kid.

I just thought I would share some of the things I did last year making decals for a game for fun and learning how to make SVG files in adobe illustrator.

It was nice to learn the ins and outs of a new program and to see what I could do with my creative process.

I'm going to get back into just drawing a bit more for myself. My participation has been sketchy but you just gotta keep picking up that torch.

Been participating in the critique section again these past few weeks. I hope that it helps people better their work and knowledge .

I got really into something doing a demo there but I didn't want to post it because I thought it went too far for the critique and I removed the post. I have the process and my thoughts. So I'll post here out of their way.

The likeness is crappy, and I see her overall head shape doesn't match. but I learned a lot about color doing all the research for the above linked post I wanted to try it out and not worry about perfect site size. Very exciting, haven't understood color like that before with vibration and volumetric indication with cool and warm. Very excited to go back and study some Dean Cornwell. Will post.

More nightly sketches, finding inspiration again and pushing past the blank page feeling for the first time in a long time. Drawing for myself is something too daunting after so much time, its easy for someone to tell you what to draw, its another thing to wonder what to draw in such a short amount of time in order to not feel like you've wasted your time.
