Hey @goldentiger ! Tbh when I 'finished' this piece I did have the same thoughts about the rule of thirds ( focus on the whole piece) and I also saw that my shadows didn't really show any Spatial distance in the way they were oversaturated and overall too dark. I guess this happened because afterwards I fooled around with settings like 'dynamics' and 'Tonal correction'. I actually prefer the version before my final version where the shadows in then ackground aren't as dark as the ones in the fore-ground. Due to another mistake ( cropping out the bottom of the river which overall shifted the focus away from the statue since it didn't really agreed to the rule of thirds) and also trying to create textures on the statue with wouldn't actually be visible from that distance or just slightly... In the beginning I only wanted to use the whole Illustration just as a background for a character and wanted to have the main focus on him/her/it.. sadly i got bored of this piece and had to move on Thanks for the very helpful critique !

@creartive I surely already did ! xD I follow her on Instagram for quite some time now and love the stuff she does And I love to take Inspiration from literally Anything but some day I maybe want to do something that goes in the direction of Illustrating and also scenery.

Starting with a new piece for the weekly challenge ^^ I shall see where it will bring me xDI guess I rendered the main character already xD I want this Little owl buddy to ell kind of upset about the rainy weather ( wich will be added and thats why he also is standing under the mushroom because its raining >-<) and Im trying to make him also look up a little bit ^^
I don't know why but I currently feel like the King of procrastination..

I literally took a 'break' from this painting for 3 hours and don't rly feel like drawing in all the little bits of the Mushroom and grass and rain and...well who am i kidding xD I love the process where you can just refine, refine and refine even more ^^ I could render this tiny owl for eternity but then I wouldn't work on fundamental things like composition, value and surroundings and feelings and so on. I hope I'm not alone with this thought xD Still working on everything xD Still working on it >-< I rethought the Lighting and wanted to make the Blooming part more visible ^^

Crono just wanted to keep himself save under mushroom from the everlasting rain, but didn't expect witnessing a bloom.

Played around with some warm tones and decided on this one ^^

Hey, awesome post! Its natural to not want to draw, doing so usually makes me quite miserable, but I'm almost always in the mood, so no problem! You're putting a lot of effort into learning, so 3 hrs off definitely doesn't make you a procrastinator!

I've always liked this photograph by Tanja brandt, this is cool! Keep up the good work!

Thanks @achronic ! ^^ Yea ... know that i reflect I do tend to go a bit too hard on myself but I think thats also good to keep it rolling

And thank you for pointing out who photographed it because I just saw this image on instagram with this tiny owl and the rainy weather and it didn't give any sort of credit to the original photographer ! ^-^

Looove this! The texture on the owl turned out really good but what i really like about this picture is the story. I could definately see myself using this as a screensaver or something. do you plan on coloring it?

@Firathion Omg ! literally xD ! I looked up too you ( still do ) since the start ^^ !
I didn't really plan on colouring it since the overall mood is also set with this light and weather setup, but now that you say it, it could give me some more practise !
I will definitely give myself a huge kick in the butt to again create more art xD I don't know why but lately I fell off my schedule.
I find it really awesome that you like my art ^^
I missed you all too much !
Oh, and thank you all for liking this Painting on the past Weekly-Challenge
It was actually my 2nd win in a row >-< quite thrilled about that !!

I see. I'm definately having those same art blocks from time to time. I think everybody does. So it's perfectly fine really. And i believe that the more hours you put into your craft the less often you encounter those them. So don't worry about it. If you need a break that's cool. ^^
Anyway congratz on the weekly challenge wins and the best of luck for the next one. I'll keep an eye out for that.

@Firathion I hope i can find peace in thinking the way you explained it, but man art block drove me crazy last week.
I did three attempts for the weekly challenge theme 'red-light' but I just couldn't see my vision at the end of these and kinda rage quitted >-< I will try and do better the next challenge, in the meanwhile I guess draw what comes to mind and do some studies !

Maybe its also time to reflect a little bit waay back when my hand first made contact with my Intuos pro and my most recent piece. Which is a 6 months time span of me just constantly making new things and creating new scenes just to get better, with practically everything

Hey! so I tried to start my Photoshop program like normal and it just won't work, it directly leads me to this empty frame of photoshop with no start site or anything. For the past 2 days i wasn't able to paint anything because of this problem now. I don't want to make this a new post but just edit this in here, so...maybe anyone has an idea how I could fix it ? >-< I explained it ( also with a picture ) in the Help Center too. This pause, caused of art block, was way too long now and it sucks that I'm not able to produce art anymore

Finally sketching again !

Im trying to also practise some face painting/ drawing. I drew this sketch from the top of my head and I want to make it a portrait of this elven girl with an interesting headpiece. I might also add a body but i still want to include some movement

Im curious too !

here goes my poor clothes design choice xd I want to make her seem kind of modern but also in pact with the woods and its creatures...like a modern robin hood but as a female.

I'll leave it at this stage for now its a bit late here and im going to finish this tomorrow ^^ - an idea was that she was petting a huge tiger or owl creature's head above her

don't really know what the best canvas size or in general composition will be but lets see tomorrow

I think an owl would not only make a fine addition for the design itself, but would possibly create some really wicked composition. Prepared a quick sketch for illustration.
Since your general design direction seems to gravitate more towards nature, it may be a good idea to incorporate a more "natural" armor for her, like making her legplate and shoulder guard out of vines and roots instead of steel, processed wood or leather. Just food for thought.

At this point i almost felt like giving up with the face xD But then I remembered what i learned about painting faces and came out with this on that arm >-< And also, change of plan! She will be holding a weapon behind her with both hands and there will be a huge head behind her with big glowing eyes

I may leave it at this state >-< I don't know if an additional busy background won't ruin the feeling

I also like the warrior look a bit more then the Nature inspired one ^^ I changed the top of her and switched it out with a chest plate

I still need to figure out how/if I will add a big creature behind her and then also change the composition
