- Thank you! I finally cleaned that up. Meanwhile started 3 more ..I have a habit of taking too long to finish a piece, then I lose interest in it and just start something else. I found 8 from recently i started and abandoned, that are decent enough to not delete, but not finished. There’s also been a number of drawings I felt I “outgrew” - became better before I finished them, and it would be easier to start from scratch than fix them. Anyone else thinking that?in24.4k
- Lady Death Fanart Collectible: Part 6 Polypaint and base Hi, it’s time to share with you another part of the process to create this fanart piece. Polypaint As this is my first collectible fanart I didn’t have previous experience with polypaint so I tried my best and played a bit with it.I wanted to give a ghostly and eerie look to Lady Death, she is beautiful and deadly, but at the end of the day she is a woman that died and was reborn at hell as an avenging spirit, that’s why I gave her skin tone a bluish very cold tone.As you will see I gave myself some creative freedom to deviate from the traditional color scheme that this characater has in comics and illustrations. To add a bit of sensuality by painting some freckles on the face and the chest. The dark nature of this character was the perfect excuse to gave her a kind of goth make up, very dark shadows around the eyes, blue lips and fingernails. I know that the original character includes sexy red lips but I wanted this girl to have a sexy but at the same time creepy look, that’s why we can see some thin veins emanating from her eyes. The biggest chromatic change I did for this character is at the hair. Lady Death has a characteristic white weavy hair but in my fanart I decided to gave her a very saturated blue color. The reason behind this wasn’t only an aesthetic choice. I want that the face area strongly pulls the attention of the viewer so this area needed a stronger contrast. Another reason is that I want her to have a more modern look, as I mentioned before, I’m strongly attracted to women with goth/punk look. I gave myself half an hour or more to analyse the work of experienced sculptors that create collectibles and I discovered that the use of darker values on the skin is often applied to create a greater sense of volume and three-dimensionality. I found that areas with heavy ambient occlusion are the perfect places to paint with darker colors in order to increase the separation between different forms. Even though she has a bluish skin tone, I used a bit of warmer hues in areas that, in real life, tend to go towards red and pink, this is very obvious in the nose, cheeks, and knuckles. Thinking with a logical mind it’s completely absurd to have warmer tones on the body of a zombie like creature but I didn’t want to limit myself by using only blue tones, it looks boring and artificial. In real life these colors are created by blood vessels in areas where the skin is very thin. ** Scythe **for her weapon I applied a cool gray with some warmer variations, this color scheme is influenced by the work of H.R giger. Base I’d like to talk about the design for the base which, to be honest, I forgot to develop along with the character. My main idea with the base is to show that Lady Death inhabits a very sterile and arid land, at the end of the day she is at hell. You can see a that she walks over dirt and rocks, a sign that she’s surrounded by death and loneliness. As part of the landscape we can see some bones and skulls to reinforce the idea of lack of living creatures, yet we can see three hands that try to reach her legs. This hands represent that all creatures are subordinated to her power and seek an evil blessing with a simple touch of the princess of the damned.1- The hand with skin burns represents the souls of those who are newcomers to hell, tortured souls that suffer for the sins comitted on earth.2- The hand with greenish rotten skin and pustules is the reminder of the decay that has infected the souls of those who have been trapped and have forgotten their humanity3- Last but not least, the hand of a demon shows that even dark creatures and entities bow before her presence. The cherry on the top, at least in my vision, are the simese twins that emerge from the ground, this malevolent creatures remind us that in hell there’s only perversion and any trace of innocence is lost. Thanks for reading till this pointI’m really happy to be very close to finish this creative journey, last but not least it’s mandatory to talk about splitting the sculpture in several pieces to be printed, this will be my last entry before showing the final rendered images. See yaMay Zbrush be with youin1.5k

- Thank you @daceronine! If I remember I save in google cloud, I will have to stick a note to do it more often. Lamp is from life. Poses are from refs but I look at refs for a while and then try to do it myself and look it up if needed. Outfits and rest is from imagination Something went wrong while installing system so we will have to wipe everything again... pc works but something is wrong. We will wait till internet is done and I will save everything on cloud this time Threads came out in eu. It's been 3 days and I had more engagement than after half a year on instagram. It feels really nice I hope it stays this way A portrait of old dude. It's the same character I posted a while ago. Inspired by Bayard Wu work. At first I thought of him as a bear but I named him Fenrir and I think wolf suits him better. Eye gave me a bit of hard time but I think it is fine now. I focused on face and forgot about area below. The way I draw hair clashes with greying hair. I had the same problem while doing Lohse's white hair. Does it looks like it is greying here? I love how desaturated red looks blue there. I keep lying to myself that I will use different color scheme but It all comes down to this blue and yellowish one it is just flipped this time Have a great day!in48.7k
It's time for week 2! This week I had a lot of time to focus on tasks, so I didn't feel as rushed.
Starting with the gesture drawing!
The anatomy assignments were pretty good, but trying to connect and distort all the different shapes took me some time to get it looking right.
The spheres and heads were a lot more easier to do, but I definitely need to keep practicing and placing them at different angles to feel comfortable doing them.
This assignment was easier than the others, but I struggled a lot practicing line weight. Even though I've been drawing for years I'm still not very good at it, but while doing the assignment I realized that I have some bad drawing habits which are probably the reason why it is still very difficult for me.
I was also worried about making the custom brush because I never did one before, but I think it looks pretty good!
And lastly, the head drawings!
While doing the assignments for this week I got the idea of getting a sketchbook. I like doing digital drawings, but sometimes i end up wit headaches or back pain, so I think that drawing on paper from time to time might also be good for me. So I wanted to know if anyone has any recommendations for good sketchbooks, that would help me a lot!
Heeey those all look great man! excellent volumes and studies!! I'd say you have a really good handle of all these!
As for a sketchbook, I think it's a great idea! I also have one, though I honestly rarely use it myself.
I'd recommend starting with something small and practical. Something you can easily move around and carry. I'd say check your local market store, they are bound to have something simple. Personally I think that we usually try to go big, or pro since that's what we want to do, but in reality we should start modest, get a feel for it, understand it, and then invest in something better once we understand what we want or need better.
Then again, truth be told, I rarely use my sketchbook, I'll usually doodle in post it instead. Weird, but it actually works since I have them handy and can just practice random figures or shades with no compromise to "keep it". They're also incredible cheap.
Maybe someone more familiar with physical medium can provide better insight, but those are my humble two cents.
your shading is really good!
and your basic shapes look beautiful!
I have some strathmore sketchbooks (mainly handbook size just so its easier to carry around but sometimes i like the bigger ones.) depends on how fancy you want it but i find that if i buy a sketchbook thats too pretty i wont be able to draw in it cus i don't wanna ruin it if the drawing's not good XD so strathmore has a super simple look that u can kinda not care too much if u mess it up lol
@daceronine @mitsuki-youko thank you so much for your help!
I also rarely draw on paper, but I have realized that my ideas come out quite well when I draw them first on paper and then digitally. I also want to practice doing some random figures and poses without the compromise of keeping them or working on them for too long T.T
And i'll definitely check the strathmore sketchbooks! I like pretty sketchbooks, but sometimes I make a mess when drawing so yeah, I think it's better if I buy a simple one XD
Hello again! I completely forgot about posting the assignments for week 3!
The time for gesture drawing this week was longer and I was able to put a lot more detail into the bodies. I honestly didn't even knew I could do something like this, I think that many of the poses look pretty good, so I'm proud of myself.
I felt much more comfortable doing these exercises this week. I guess I wasn't used to making these shapes so it took me a long time to finish them last week, but now I found it very easy to do and it took me less time to finish it.
The same happened with the spheres and the heads, but the facial features were a little harder to make, I think I have to keep practicing, but I'm happy because now I know how to make ears
For the portrait study I chose a random photo I found, I wasn't sure if I had to do one or several studies but oh well. I don't think it looks exactly the same as the model, but it's close, so it's a win for me.
And I just wanted to have some fun with the head drawings, some of these characters are my OCs and I hardly have time to draw them, so I took this opportunity. I'm still trying to find a style so I was experimenting with the eyes.
And that's it for week three!
Yo these are all fire man!
And that's what's really important
An ear is a bit pointy, but I suspect that was intentional xD
The potrait is gorgeous! It's clearly the same person, but reconstructed perfectly, with nice shadows and line weight. and all them characters look so cute!
Keep it up man, this is all amazing work!
Week 4 let's go!
For this week I did some exercises with shapes, and i'm honestly becoming a lot more comfortable doing these so that's really good!
The real challenge was the perspective assignment, I think I lost some braincells trying to get it finished, but it was good to do something that I wouldn't otherwise do by choice.
I had the idea of making different bridges that would go on forever, and at some point I also wanted to add a building on the background, but maybe it was too ambitious for an exercise I'd never done before, so I stuck with the bridges.
I also tried to make the head with all the facial features. At first the head looked really ??? and I was even more ??? while making the nose, I think it has to be the most difficult part of the head for me. Honestly, the eyes were much easier to do, as well as the lips and eyebrows, and I'm still learning about shadows and highlights, so I did my best.
I was honestly very sleep deprived while making this xD but I think it doesn't look that bad, maybe I should've added more details with the shading.
10 days later
Week 5! I've been so busy these days I almost forgot to post here.
Starting with some more gesture drawings! I'm not sure if I'm getting better at this, but I hope so.
I did some portrait studies as well. I think the faces might look similar, but maybe some shading would have made them look better. I don't really like making realistic faces, but it was still good practice.
I also tried practicing with a 3 point perspective, but I was getting overwhelmed with so many lines O.O
Although in a very strange way, making this building was much easier than the practice. I didn't add many details because it was getting too complex, but I'm happy with the final result
I've also been doing some personal art recently, so that's why I've been a little slow with the assignments, but I'll try to finish as much as I can for week 6!
