I like the 2nd variation a bit more because you give me and the viewer something else to look at in the image. Both are still mysterious and gets me thinking whats going on. I start to ask myself questions. Things are just so monochromatic which is ok but I think the space like creature legs can be brighter. If you don't zoom in you, can't really tell its his legs. At first I thought you added some humanoid character that is a guide of some sorts.
Keep up the good work though.
