I'm still plugging away at Term 3. Here is a color clothed study. Oh, this took forever!

I am attempting to sculpt this monster in Blender. And it's not going well. I'll give it another attempt before giving up on it.

That's a really cool monster! I think if you made a profile view as well it could help you more for the 3D part

Thank-you! That's a really good idea. But I'm so sick of that project I'm moving on. I've spent so much time on it, I'm not keen on spending any more hours on it. Maybe later, but I really need to move on. It feels like I've been on Term 3 forever.

I've been working on adding clothes to sketches and trying not to spend a stupid amount of time on them, but it's still slow going. Here are three of them, with the original photo reference. I still have to use photo references for the clothes.

I've finally mad it to week 6 of term 3! Yay! I started on anatomy 2 assignment 2, and I had to re-watch the anatomy video and follow along.

The last two assignments I'm going to modify a bit.

For the "Study a fully dress character... " I'm going to do a master study of John Singer Sargent. I'm going to do it in oils (my canvases arrived yesterday). We will see how that goes.

For the "Draw a character that represents you" I'm doing a self portrait in oils. I'm going to have to use photo references for this. And again, we will see how this goes.

Oh boy, I hadn't realized I hadn't posted anything since February. Everything fell apart at the end of Term 3. And then there was vacation, blah, blah, blah. After a couple of months (closer to 4 months) I picked myself back up and started again.

I feel like I lost some ground. But, I'm back to practicing gesture and I working on Term 4. I've been on week 3 for a couple of weeks. Anatomy is a struggle.

And... I'll post some drawings later after the thunderstorm that just started finishes up (Maybe tomorrow?)

Anyway, I haven't given up.

I'm debating what to post and what not to post. I have a bunch of stuff I've never posted.

I'm going to start by posting some gesture drawings. The first page (3 drawings) were done in Nov. of 22. I did some gesture on my own for a while and then stopped.

I'm using these chicken scratch drawings to show where I was almost 2 years ago. Oh, and the pencil lines are light and hard to see.

The next drawings were done yesterday using my Galaxy tablet. Still some chicken scratches (an ongoing battle for me), but I think they are much improved.

I'm going to post my gesture drawings on a regular basis. Maybe not everyday, but at least once a week.

I've been mostly following the "Weekly Study Companion Guide". I think I need to work on more anatomy studies than what is in the study guide. I'm going to watch the lower body anatomy video in a couple of days. I plan to take extra weeks to practice anatomy. (Maybe a month or two, not sure).

And then there is the assignment to draw 10 heads from imagination for headless upper body studies. That has been an awful struggle. I went back and did some head studies from photos earlier in the week. My current plan is to gesture Mon-Fri, and head studies Sat and Sun. As well as other studies and fun things that come my way.

Here are two torso studies with faces from imagination. When I did the faces, I drew a face from reference. Then I put the reference and study away. Then I drew the face for the torso. I did, however rely heavily on the references when I did the hair.

The first study was done from a photo reference.

The second torso study was done from a drawing by T.B. Choi. I don't think my imagined head goes very well with this study.

I just finished watching the lower body anatomy video, and my brain is full. Anatomy is something I'm going to have to continue to study.

Yesterday I did another head study and two more torso studies with heads from imagination. All are done on my Galaxy tablet with Infinite Painter.

And this torso study is from a Patrick Brown artwork. I am having a hard time making the imagined heads look like they belong with the torso - especially the torso copied from other artists.
