Too much time has passed, the humanity has crumbled and the gods are split. Mount Olympus became a necropolis. Helios, the sun, was fading and becoming weaker while Nyx and Erebus were getting strong every day.

In a last attempt to reverse it, Apollo harvested Chaos and secretly commissioned a god killing weapon to Hephaestus. With the weapon in hands, he took Helios, in hope that his light would give an advantage on Erebus and Nyx and went to kill them. The battle left the sky tainted for a millennium, leaving a mix of night and day that brought even more chaos on the world.

In the battle Erebus was killed and Nyx almost died. She merged with the uncontrolled darkness that lifted from Erebus body, thus becoming something new, both Darkness and Night, Nyre. And with this new power she shattered the weapon and killed Helios with a darkness that not even the sun could light. Apollo managed to escape while this happened. And now Nyre is going on a rampage to kill every god and sinking the universe in pure darkness.

A little progress, I was having trouble to depict her, but i liked the last one, so I will explore more the Night/Darkness duality. Any thoughts are welcome

Somehow I prefer the second to last !
Don't worry...you're not the only one having hard times defining your character(s) ^^'

Especially the main character...usually because you need to put all your weight/thoughts/emotions into it !
Hope that's not too odd what I'm babling haha

Yeah @mr_dessin , thinking better I have to agree. The strong thing about the last one is the pose. Those eyes make up look cool so I explored a little more.
Coming to a mix of practicality and design.

tried a few variations, but kept the same design. I think will start the illustration to find out if everything is working.

Great backstory, and I can see it in your concept art. I am drawn mostly to the face with the dark scarring in her face, though I like the bright eyes with the dark shadows (last picture, middle sketch) as well.

Was not entirely happy with the previous result, so I kept on working on different poses.
My girlfriend asked why she has an armor if she is a goddess and I was unable to give her a good answer. So i decide to explore more the fabric of the night and I think it gives her a good ethereal look.

Really loving the colors! The face rendering is really nice. Perhaps some ornamentation on the edges of her fabric, especially in the neck area, would be nice to draw attention to her face and help convey her supernatural character. Other than that, it looks really cool so far! Keep it up

Improved the colors and rendered better her torso and the fabric. I'm still not sure how will merge the hair with the fabric, or if I'll merge it at all. Any thoughts?

This is looking cool. I love the spiral comp in this one. I feel the character needs something on its face to contrast better with the piece. I'm currently looking more at her chest and shoulder because they're contrast is stronger than the face. Its the rim light you have, but your still working on this.
I look forward to seeing more of this. Good work.

Thank you it's a good advice. I'll try to bright the black on the fabric to reduce de contrast and keep her face the most contrasting spot.

A lightning test with the stars, also made her chest brighter. I still need to figure out a better way to present the dying sun. Her weapon is made of pure chaos, so I am planing to show it's shape in a nebula. A scythe has a cool distinct shape the has a good composition line, however I will try a few weapons to see how they come.

Made some lightning changes and fixed her legs. The focus should be more on her face now but I still need to properly handle the sun
