"...In the old ancient times there were the great warriors of the forest, but one day they have vanished without any trace, leaving behind nothing but ruins of their villages. Now the time has passed and presumably all the ruins were being restored by the great but quite mystical elves. Some say they came from nowhere, others claim that they are not even from the surface of the Earth. It's questionable. Although one thing is quite certain, the fact is that they cannot be found anywhere, after 70 years their existence is still a mystery. All we have got is a painting found inside of a great boundless and puzzling place, in Forest Asuya."

Greetings to everyone!

I'm quite inspired and super excited about theme of this challenge. This is also the first time I'm participating in such challenge on cubebrush. So I was kinda worried first, but I thought this is gonna be fun and a really good practice to participate in. I'm looking forward to discuss ideas together!

My choice of the side is gonna be FANTASY, to widen my experience in fantasy based projects.

I want to thank Cubebrush forum that such a good challenge could exist! I also wish good luck for everyone there are so nice pieces here all around!

This is the first sketches of my ideas. They are bit messy in my opinion.
At the first section of the image I wasn't having any idea what I'm gonna be after, that was for mainly exploring some idea.

Yet more specific thumbnails of the idea are coming soon!

Just made some a bunch of thumbnails. I'm considering to change the camera angles I guess I'm not sure what I'm gonna go for but I'm probably gonna go with either number 5, 2 or 8 or maybe a with a mixture of those.

Hello flamer.. nice to read your short story.. I guessed it would become a good base to improve your concept. And about your thumbnails, I liked your number six.
It seemed like a forgotten civilization that need to be improved by your elf..

Just a little update...
I made some composition sketches

And I was heavily speculating if I rather choose the 4th/5th or the 6th composition.
Then I made a rough painting of the 6th one since I found it more interesting. : )

Just a bit of update again, I only progressed on the details, I was trying to apply some different lighting and color composition but I assume I have to rethink a few things about it.

It seems nice, I really like your progress. Now your image has a strong focal point, and I believe the viewer eyes will stop there.
However, the dark level between foreground and background are looked similar, and as if there were no distance between them. So, if you try to repair, and separate the dark level among foreground, main ground, and background, it will improve your result

Nice, you've come pretty far already! A lot of the image is really dark right now, so you should probably lighten some of it up. Use value to create some depth in the image, keep the foreground dark, but lighten up the mid ground some. Keep on going!

Thank you @hebronppg and thank you @raedrob You're right about that hebron, it seems like the midground just lost between the foreground and the background. I think it must be value an foreshortening error although there's not much foreshortening to talk about here, maybe just the scales don't add up. I'm gonna fix the issue today ^^

I was trying different things with it, I suppose I still should fix some errors here and there.
Did a few detailings, but also I feel maybe I overdid it a bit.

Here's another update ^^ I think this will be roughly the final result maybe I'll tweak some sort of parts that might be done better. Although I've had a great fun with my piece although I feel maybe I overdid it in some sort of way, but I think I'm quite happy with it.

So I've been thinking a lot if I want to work on my piece or should I declare it as a finished piece. I decided to go with a more stunning looking piece. So here's my update:

I've touched up the piece quite a bit I couldn't resist myself to do more with it
So I've changed a lot of parts on the render, added a bit more mist to it.

Also I made an additional concept sheet to summarize my process:

Overall I'm really satisfied with this project It's been quite fun doing it, I think I've learned a lot and also learned a lot from the responses and from people here.
