Anyways
I have sketched a bit and started making my first attempt at concept art for my magnum opus. Behold!
Its a dream of mine to one day make my own comic, i already have some cool concepts i think. But even just thinking about it is so overwhelming. I dont feel ready at all, mainly because im simply not, but if i dont start today then i may as well never start.

thanks! The knight and the creature are considered to be best friends. Dont question it, they were meant to be :sparkles:

1 month later

After an eternity i returned... and finished week 3! onward to week 4, lets pray i actually do it in a week
(theres also an unfinished page for the comic, but i decided to pause the project for several reasons and focus and studies, you can see more on discord)

My 1st time doing the 1min gestures. Im alright with the results, any ideas how to improve? They look barely different then the 30sec ones. But i already feel the gesture juices flowing inside of me, its only a matter of time... :space_invader:

Hey there mate, snakker here, local 2-yr old noob. Just landed upon your thread. I like how you took brohawks advice on line weight, it works really well with your character lineart

As for your gestures, its a bit if a feel and aesthetic thing for me. A chance to practice an exercise that forces my brain to try to simplify a complex thing into three simple lines (C curves, S curves and straight lines) but i totally suck at doing it quick, i tend to take my time honestly and now force myself to do the fast ones to see what i get outta it

I feel one key thing here is you are tending to use symmetric and chill c curves (they end up looking static and Michelin like) in stead force some asymmetry into the design. A straight line adds structure and strength, an angle at the elbow too, then you add a curve with an offset apex (like a triceps contour) or an exaggerated C curve to show the force of a bending knee or a bending back etc

All about that aesthetic look and feeling of the forces.

Cheers and keep at it, your medieval styled characters and comics looks promising

Thanks for the great advice, ill make sure to pay attention to your tips next time! :fire:
But im gone for a week, so stay tuned!

The comic page and line art look pretty good so far. From what I can add, you also need to get the pose right for the gesture.

12 days later

So i did another gesture session today. I tried to pay more attention to what you guys said, but its hard, 1 minute is pretty stressfull after all.
Im glad with the result, but i noticed repeating poses, so ill use a different website next time.

Nice work on the poses. You can try SketchDaily.net.

First time i did the proportions assignment. I think the results are alright, the female just looks a bit off to me.
What do you guys think?

Overall it looks fine, but you might want to review the neck and head portion of the female and male figure, the neck is slightly wider than how you've depicted it for example. You also have the female figure's waist just slightly too high up. A few more of these and you'll nail it.

Another gesture session i was kinda unhappy with the results and was wondering why it didnt go so well. i only realized afterwards, that i accidentaly did a 30 sec session istead of a 1 min one... :skull:

The Gesture drawings look good. I think you just need more practice.
