Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. I'm glad I can at least grow along with you all
Hi! Lesley the messaging feature works for me now
@What_the_dog_doin_tho Thanks!
HEy looK it's art! I decided to leave theis here for now, but it's starting to go in a direction I like. I'll start on the "small details" and the hardware this weekend. After looking through Pinterest and Art Station it's previous state looked like a potato
I also did some gestures! Haven't done these in a year or so One of them literally looks like an orangutan. It feels good to get back to anatomy exercises though.
Np that drawing looks nice! And don't worry about the gestures u didn't do them for a year so its fine you will get better the more you do it lol I'm sure you ready know that but thats all the feedback I can give you
Thats a really cool first design Lesley!Could you give me/us a little more context about the character?Cheers
Thanks! Well I don't have too much yet, but she's meant to be a goddess warrior. She was chosen for the role and had to accept it. When she's called to fight she doesn't take long because her main duty is to take out one or two particular people. She's kind of like an executioner, and I tried to base some of her design on that. She's very stern and straight-forward, but a little cocky and sarcastic with her equals. I actually started to think more about her world and character more as I typed this! I better write everything down before I forget lol.
I've entered into the final stage of my creature design! I'll have to tighten up the rendering a bit more later, but I found a color palette I'm satisfied with. The skin is meant to be white with an iridescent rainbow effect and the fins are a gradient from orange to clear. Then I added blue tint to the skin under the chin and feet. The alternate version bellow seemed kind of boring and didn't vibe well with the environment.
It's a land and water creature that lives in the deep waters of mystical desert oases around the world. It likes to roam the sand dunes, but if it stays away from the water for more than a couple of days it will start to dehydrate and possibly die. They feed on desert plants and fish.
Almost forgot! Also did some gestures. I tried an approach where I define the curve of the spine more and show a little more anatomy. The top/first three pages are 30s and the last 3 are 1 min. Thoughts appreciated!
I also really like the color scheme youโve chosen! As always great job, Lesley! Its cool to see all the hard work youโve put into that design come to fruition!๐๐๐
Thank you! I can't it took me 2 weeks to get to this point, but I made it
Wow, this lizard creature come out really great! I don't remember english name for it but I think it could be a good idea to add the skin between its fingers - it would suggest it is a water creature and actually bigger surface of palms is also helping to walk on sand without digging in Good job!
Thanks for the comment The skin between the fingers is called webbing! I drew it but it's way too small, so I'll make sure to make it bigger. That and the palms. Thanks for pointing those out!
Here are my finished (aka I've spent too much time on these) characters designs! I think the second one alone took ~15 hours. I need to take what I've learned and move on I like the design choices I made, but I feel like I fell short when it came to the anatomy and rendering. Definitely a lot to take away from this project! Let me know what you think.
I really like both of your concepts! Great job! One personal opinion on your warrior: maybe you could add some more aggressive colors to it as to me they look a little tame for someone who kills people. You could sprinkle in some saturated reds or orange๐
OOh, maybe the blue parts and jewels could turn red when she's about to fight or wants to. I just imagined an animation of her walking by the camera as the colors change Thanks for the feedback, I'll keep that in mind when I draw her again!
My computer doesn't like 3D, so I made the models by hand I want to eventually integrate 3D, so I'll be coming back to this portion in the future. I have everything to make a decent full body though, so I'll do that when I have more time! My cheap $1 clay was okay for the hands and feet, but when It came to the skull I couldn't make it work
this is amazing, for $1 clay you did a great job. the skull might just take a bit more patience, you never know. great stuff though.
yesss! love doing some old clay stuff I used to do it alot with kids at a scouts group lool. although more clay got thrown around than anything elseh ahaha
Thank you! There were a couple of moments when it was a going well. Maybe if I did spend some more time and made it bigger it would've made a difference haha
Oh no, I bet that was fun to clean up That sounds really cute though. I love the random stuff kids come up with when they're making art.
