So I'm moving onto term 6! I thought I could finish the school in October, but since each of these took an hour and a half each, I think I'll have to rethink my schedule
I focused on daylight this week, so I did 5 min studies and then followed along with the tutorial. After that I picked three of my favorite scenes a mimicked the color schemes.

If you've watched the videos you probably noticed I added shadow from the light attached to the wall. I felt like if there's such a strong shadow on the floor then there should be a cast shadow on the wall... I tried to look at real-life examples, but either the shadow was really light and blurred when it touched the floor or the shadow was dark but didn't touch the floor. If anyone can explain why there wouldn't be a shadow on the wall too I'd appreciate it! If anything else looks off let me know!

Progress on my day time lighting scene. I tried to do line art but the program I was using kept crashing, so I just started adding the colors and using the select tool to measure out the perspective. Still need to work some things out, like the top windows, but it's going okay. I like this method of going from shadow to sunlight to bounce light etc. It helps me think about each and every shadow and the direction of the light source.

Thanks so much! When I hid the line art for the first time while doing this I was surprised at how clear everything was Definitely a streamlined way to get things done.

Today's progress for my buildings! I got most of the large and medium details down for the "sunlight" portion of the scene and now I'm working out the cast shadows
I can't wait to start on the bounce light so I can get rid of the dark areas I started with.

Y'all I tried The lights killed me. If you have any advice or resources for street lights and night lighting, please share Despite the pain it was still pretty fun though.

Aside from this I made a little progress on the street corner! I ended up having to redo the windows on the white building. I think the theme for this past month is do proper lineart before adding values.

I recently picked up DrawABox again! I decided to find a program where I could get feedback and I stumbled across CGMA. I signed up for a summer course on design fundamentals. Before I start I thought it would be a good idea to sharpen my drawing and observation skills. The class looks like a lot of work and I don't want to get left behind.
In the sketches below, the first scorpion on the left is one I tried before following the tutorial (seen on the right). As you can tell I need a lot of practice

I also made some progress on my buildings. I'm not done with the white one, but I needed a break from it so I started on the side planes of the others. Liking the way it's going so far.

Did some 30 min. interior color studies. I also experimented with a couple of brushes that I've been hoarding but never use
It really made me think more about how the texture affects the mood and feel of the picture. It was really fun!

The interior colors look very good, my monkey brain can see what is in the room clearly, while I struggle with basic shading xD keep it up tho!

Will do! It's about a month away and I'm really excited! I don't know if you know Tyler Edlin but he's really good and worked on a few movies. With this course we get weekly live Q&A sessions with the instructor and separate individual feedback on all our assignments. I've been logging in everyday even though nothing's happening yet

Yeah these words are new to me too! I've been immersing myself in Japanese more for the past couple of months so I wrote them down just because haha
