these are great! i’m guessing you alr know this but color studies are great to learn from old masters, since they often find ways to push colors in ways that really make the paintings even more amazing and vibrant.

Oh yeah I totally agree! I definitely want to study Baroque artists and Dutch painters later.

movement-wise i also love baroque art and the american illustrators of the 20th century! specific-artists-wise i really love caravaggio, vermeer, sargeant, leyendecker, klimt, cassatt, rembrandt, and bernini. do u have any favorite specific old masters?

Caravaggio and Rembrandt I feel like we have similar tatstes.
I also like Gerard Van Honthorst, Monet, Norman Rockwell, Jean Honore Fragonard, and Frederich Amerling. My art history degree is low key useless to me, but the classes did expose me to a lot of good artists

I got the base colors down for my interior! Really glad I did those studies earlier.
I'm just re-using the one point perspective drawing I did when I was going through term 2 (1?). I'm embarrassed by some of this lineart, but regardless it's so much easier to lay down everything with lines Next up I'll be doing reflections, shadows, and firelight!

Here's the final interior scene! I like the way this came out.

For now I think I'll start incorporating more line into my finished drawings.

This is the grey scale now compared to when I first drew it a few years ago. I struggled with getting the colors and values correct, but now I feel more confident choosing colors in the correct value. That being said, hopefully it doesn't look too dark

I think its a great idea to incorporate the line art into your finished pieces and I really like how your painting came out. Just one thing regarding the line art (I know you reused your older works): maybe in your next piece you could consider the lightness/darkness of your lineart depending on whether the object you are drawing is in the light or shadow. Like Marc showed us in Photoshop 2. Meaning thinner lighter lines in the light and darker, bolder lines in the shadows.
That might give your pieces a stronger sense of lightness and darkness.

I'm starting to do DrawABox insect construction drawings on my own! So far I've learned to draw bigger, pay closer attention to detail and add more volume to my shapes.

Spot the difference!
I watched the composition video and chose my recent interior to do the re-arrangement assignment.

I decided to follow the 1/3 composition frame. Some things don't make sense, like the pool and couch, but I think it at least looks a little more organized.
Let me know what you think! Is there anything you would change?
