Thanks for taking the time to collect all off this!
I didn't mean eye symmetry, I had trouble with eyes (like getting the size right and the bottom lids) and symmetry of the face overall.
Is there anything you noticed specifically about the face or eyes that look off?
I saw a video of Angels about how to practice the face that I want to follow. I'm familiar with the planes and structures, but I haven't practiced enough with angles and rotations to make something without a 1 to 1 reference.
I agree and disagree with having 3-4 references. For each component (blonde hair in cool/dark light, red ribbon, Japanese face structure, etc.) I have 1-3, but bringing it all together makes it seem like a lot. When work on it I only focus on one or two at a time.
It could depend on the style, but if you're going for something realistic it's good to have a lot.
Here's a board I found and the painting they used it for.
