Hello, I'm kinda new to art (completely new if you don't consider doodling stuff from the head once in a full moon) especially at digital and painting and just wanted to share my recent fanart (in progress) somewhere, so I decided to try this place (I have twitter here but its super new and have no followers ^^").

I'll try to paint it in a way like I saw other people paint their artwork..looks more like sculpturing than following the lineart itself. idk how to explain. I hope it'll look more realistic this way? idk, i'll try and see how it'll go!

I would like to get some critiques, would be greatly appreciated

Dragon Lady :3 took me alot of time to paint this, tried a different method, was abit messier...But I think I'm overall satisfied with it. Hope you will enjoy!

Excellent job to push to the finish! Its not easy. Congratulations!

Now you get to fresh start, go study the topics you think you struggled with and post those studies. And start working on your next one! Looking forward to it.

Thanks! Yeah it wasn't easy, There's so much to learn..

I know I have proportion problems, I've ordered a book that will arrive in a few days and I hope it will help me.
I actually have marc's course as well but his anatomy class is...really good, but i feel I need more "tips" for the flow of the work without thinking too much. And his course in anatomy is SO overwhelming to me. I have a feeling its not supposed to be THAT complicated as he made it look like...
I have this thing that when I (for example) drew Toothless, I didnt think too much about it, it it turned out my greatest painting (imo).
But I tried harder in other paintings I did, and they turned out less better.
I think Its because I lacked this general "flow" and "confidence" I had with Toothless painting.

So i hope this book I ordered will help me study anatomy in a less complicated way so I can just, let the art flow in my work.
Cuz I really want to also learn how to draw humans correctly, not just monsters/animals.

You are on the right path. You have analyzed what you needed, and you are correct. You are looking for a construction technique that is repeatable and consistent, to allow you to express yourself.

You will experience that proportions are manipulable as well and you can push and pull them to your will for design purposes. Proportions will also teach you to measure from landmark to landmark and you will memorize the landmarks and their lengths. Anatomy just teaches you what those landmarks names are, and which lump should go over which according to the skeletons position.

Good luck with your new book and studies.

BTW very enjoyable color.

Thanks for the reply. And yes, your reply exactly explained what I need. ^^

I think the hard part of anatomy (or any new subject you learn) is memorizing it well enough that you don't have to think so much about it which gives you that flow and confidence you mentionned. That will come with repetition and experimenting to find what works for you. So I'm sure you can do it if you keep at it. 👍

Best of luck to you!

Thanks!^^
I'm so impatient i wanna get better so fast, but i know this'll take time haha.
I want to make art for a living, so...
I shouldn't expect to draw perfectly after less than 6 months drawing...
but...so impatient...

Poor Pikachu haha!

I've realized that I've painted less than

15 paintings in 2022(!!!!)

since when I started my journey, so I decided to pick up the pace in 2023 and paint at least 3-4 piece every month because i really want to get better...
That's what I've done so far, I have problems with coloring/shading so my next piece I'll try Marc Brunnet's tips and i even bought his advanced brushes ...
I have so much to want to learn ..I need 2023 to be productive...
I don't want only to study anime style, I want to study drawing backgrounds and nature and animals...

Please, if you have any tips/advice to get better, I would appreciate it so much!
